This is in response to the why i DONT tell people i play poker thread. I can see why people dont like to tell others who dont play poker that its their job.

Why dont we come out and tell everyone we play when asked what we do. All we are doing is spreading word of poker, with possibly helping expand it by letting others know whats up.

Whenever i talk to girls or whatnot if they mention their job or what they do in school. I am never the person you all are when you dont tell people you play. Trust me people dont just label you as a scumbag gambling Degen. Unless you look like a dude who just stays inside playin poker all day. I always get good conversations going when talking poker with tards who dont know anything about it.

I explain the math behind it and how i play like 12 games at a time. And BR management. Maybe its just me and i come off as a nice guy, who knows who what hes talking about.

I even explain METAGAME, and how i use it to own people souls. Plus it makes me feel good when some moron makes a dumb statement about poker being rigged etc. Then i explain how i dont have to work and they all work crummy jobs getting through college.

I mean explain to these people that you dont have a boss really. Unless you have a backer. But explain to the donks that you do whatever the **** you want with your time. That while they work crappy hours for scum wage.

If the women you talk poker to get interested you can always be like, come to my house or hang out and ill explain how poker works. Then you sit her in the corner and make her study your play while 12 tabling and letting her know whats up.

i agree w. OP . Its not always that annoying to talk about it . I like sharing my way of how i got to poker , how my game changed through time and that its a game you understand in 5 minutes but learn all your life and stuff like that .

Women just dont believe it first , talk about BRM etc . - they find it interesting in the end .

I also like all the Questions like if its rigged , how much did you lose , or when people share their poker experiences with me .

It is a waste of many hundreds of hours of your life a year if you actively tell people you're a poker player and explain it in detail. You should strive to keep it simple and brief. The information is hard to digest all at once and not everyone is capable of understanding certain aspects of such a conversation. So while I generally agree with you I think using some 'game selection' when choosing who to tell how much is totally vital. If you're doing it for the lulz when you think someone will completely misunderstand or ask a stereotypical question from P0g0's thread, you can look for that kind of person too.

I actually agree. I used to think that you should not tell what you are doing because you might come across as a degen. But I found out - people know so little about poker that they do not realise that 90% of the players are degens. Therefore they do not see you as a degen.

A friend of mine told me that she had a friend who played poker to earn his living while studying. I told her that it is very unlikely that this is true, and she was really surprised - she obviously had simply bought his stories that must have sounded much like what OP wrote.

But of course, tell the girl that you play poker, and you will become the funny guy. Guess what that means.

So your strategy to get girls is to talk nerdy and then later hope that watching you play 12 tables at the same time to be some prelude to sex.

This is a bad strategy if you're looking for sex. If not, you show the girl exactly what's her job gonna be in the relationship: sit and be ready to do whatever you ask.
