Some people do a lot to cover up their wealth. Some people that are fairly wealthy still live fairly modestly. These are the people that it sucks for.

A couple years ago, I went to visit my Grandfather. When he asked about my new car, I said that I'd won the money for it playing poker. He got very concerned about my gambling problem, and I tried to put him at ease by mentioning that $60 of my own money was all I'd invested, which didn't help much. Then, I told him that I'd left my job and was playing for a living. I said I was much happier, and the reason I was able to come for the visit was because I had more money and free time than before.

He took me inside, sat me down, and said, "Brian, there are no easy ways to get through life. You can't spend your life trying to find ways to slide bye. You gotta keep your head down and your ass up just like everybody else."

When I told my Mother I was contemplating leaving my job, she said she thought it was a bad idea. I told her I'd be easily make more money. She said,
"Oh, I'm not concerned you won't make enough money, if you try I'm sure you can. I'm worried you'll sit around your house on the computer all day getting weird."

I spoke to someone at my new job who said that online poker (like PokerStars) is run by 10 guys in a basement who are all playing against you so you can't ever win.

I haven't spoken to her since.

It's very annoying when my dad does that, and he's always only guessing. He simply assumes I've lost, and therefore deduces that I'm angry, without basing either assumption on anything
