Remembering this one.

Created an USD account to my bank sometime ago for a $30k cashout because I bought an Audi TT last week. (Party rips you off in transaction costs.) However, I was unable move the money from the USD account to my EUR account via online bank, so I had to visit the teller today.

A young clerk girl really didn't know how to do it, so she got an older woman to help us out. While the older woman was doing the transaction she asked where did the money come from, since they have a policy to ask on all big amounts coming from other countries. I said "from an online poker site" to which the young girl said "man, I have to start playing poker too!". Elderly woman: "Yeah, it's good as long as you're winning, but how much did you lose?"

I died a little inside.

Moment later I gathered my stuff, walked out in flips and jean shorts and felt a little baller. Peace.

So many reasons. My buddy is basically a slightly winning rakebackpro and at parties/get together with friends will just up and say out of nowhere "Oh yah I play poker for a living". Sounds like the biggest tool in the world, if he was really that good he wouldn't need to bring it up hahaha.

Obviously we all have to listen of how a dude had AA cracked. Or my favorite how my buddy's tell me they got 123 out of 7,000 in a PokerStars Freeroll.

I really dont get whats so hard to grasp about this.

People just think that poker is pure gambling like roulette. And that woman thought youd be a degen gambling with thousands$ every month and hitting a luck streak that month, so you could afford the 30k cashout.

But on the longrun you lose and you already lost much more than the 30k.

So imo the question isnt really that inappropiate.
