Here, where i live the most common responses:
1. They look at you as if you have one big gambling problem.
2. Some of them play, and they are all winning players. Although they know no books, no poker online sites, ...
3. I give you 300$, can you double it?
.

You will have to give her some presents and stuff like that. Like buy her some jewel for $1k or something, or take her out to diner in the most fancy restourant in town. Make sure she knows you pay for it with your pokerwinnings, and she will definatly not wine again. She will probadly brag to all her friends about "yeah my BF bought me this, he makes tons of money every day! Just last week he made like $10k blablabla" This will also give you implied threesome odds
seriously WTF.. this is so wrong on so many levels

My econ professor mentions online poker like every single class. I kind of want to figure out his sn and break him. What is the best way to approach this situation?

You forgot to mention that the big blind then will stare down the raiser for like 2 minutes before he folds.

I don't tell my father because I know that he will explain to me that the casinos first let you win, but then...
Of course, later that day he would brag to others "...more than we together..."

It was so funny that in that movie they say multiple times about how poker is not about luck at all but a skill game blablabla, and then you see the most insane beats all over the entire movie, for example:

AA>KK on AKxxx board
JJ<AK on AKKJJ board (BUT BOND ONLY STACKED OFF THERE BECOUSE HE KNEW THE VILLAIN WAS BLUFFING! lol)
and they didnt get it in on the turn-lolz

facilitator: Earl have you ever stopped to think you have a gambling prob?
Earl: No Im winning. When youre winning its not a problem. Thats like saying Michael Jordan has a basket ball problem, or Def Leapord has an awesomeness problem.

IIRC they were like 1000BBs deep, so Bond is pretty awful to be stacking off in that spot. I think he bet/3bet/called, but he definitely should have flatcalled the raise instead of 3bet. While 3betting does allow villain to make a bluff 4bet, that's a pretty terrible board to be making a big bluff (and villain is supposed to be solid), and with only a one hand sample size, there's no way to tell if the tell was reliable.

Awesome thread. I don't play for living but lately I have had these silly questions aswel. When I started winning some money I was bragging a lot and telling basicly everyone I play poker. It was cool to tell people I had made $1000 without putting any own money on it. However nowadays it's pretty annoying becouse people just keep asking "how much you made yesterday?" etc and these numbers sound pretty big for them although I only play SSNL (obv they don't understand variance).

For example my dad kept asking "how big bankroll you have now?" like every day and one day I was pissed off and told him "it doesn't matter how much I have right now, I am a winning player and the long term results are only important". Obviously he didn't understand that and said "Why are you so angry, you have lost today, right? You really should withdraw the money before you lose it all." and I was just like "yeah sure".

I have learned to keep my mouth shut now and thank god I don't play for living so it's a lot easier for me to dodge these stupid questions becouse I don't need to make any lies when people ask what I do for living.

Haven't had any problem with family. I find that if you describe e.g. NL100 as "the dollar game" it makes it sound even smaller than it is. Random people I've met due to lugging around a poker book have been cool too. Usually don't ask much; and they aren't clueless since they play themselves or have someone close who does.

Only little trouble I've had is with one friend who called me just as I was finishing a session and wanted to know how much I won. $26. That got him started on how he needed to give me lessons so I could make more. He's real good because he can beat the Neopets poker game online.
