When i'm sat at the computer shouting ' NO F***ING ACE' with my kings, then ' FFS' when the ace hits, my flatmates girlfriend starts saying 'maybe you should stop playing if you keep losing'. Me: 'It's ok I'm just getting unlucky today, i'll win it back sooner or later'. His gf ' maybe your just not good at poker'. THis makes me want to kick the **** out of her! People don't understand the ins and outs of playing poker. Losing my KK doesn't tilt me but having her commenting does. I lost with the nut straight on the bubble of a big tournament the other night when it was all in on the flop and he hit runner runner flush. I said something like ' you lucky F**K, I was 93% favourite'. Then she made a comment something like 'Just stop playing if your losing again'. I felt like smashing her face in, how can she not understand that being 93% favourite is a good thing?

My roommate came up to me the other day and told me his girlfriend thinks that I might have a gambling problem... We lolz'ed for a bit about it and made fun of her behind her back. But in all reality, I really don't understand how anyone can come to that conclusion.

Whenever someone raises that argument, I always think, what money do they think I am losing with my gambling problem? I haven't had a job since I graduated last May. Where do you think the money comes from to pay the bills and to maintain my lifestyle?

I've just stopped telling people I play poker, it saves a lot of time. Today, I was on the phone with the bank to apply for a new credit card and I just told them I work from home and am an internet equity analyst, no follow up questions which was perfect...

The world out there is still very ignorant about poker...they still think its standard ****** casino gambling crap...

Last year when still in school a teacher asked me how much I make or so and I told her I made about 15k that year, my first year. She was like... "HAHA BUT DO YOU HAVE 15k RIGHT NOW?" "no i dont" "haha i knew it lollololol" (as if to say, but HOW MUCH DID YOU LOSTS? LOLSZ)

"cuz i spent it dumb ****ing bitch"

nah I just shut up and walked away, im from south africa so a teacher doesn't want to believe I make 3 times her hourly by just sitting on my ass playing a game.

teachers are the most uncreative people ...

Perfect would be to pay cash for everything and/or use a debit card, and save the 18% interest on the credit card. It sound like you're doing well enough that you could be doing business on a cash basis before long.

Bank Teller: "Where's this from awfully big check hey?"
me: "I don't know is it? I won it playing poker"
Bank Teller: " Awfully lucky"

I proceed to bring in like 60k worth of 5k checks in the next 2 or 3 months. I live in a smallish town so I run into the same tellers alot.

Bank Teller: "You got lucky again!"
me: "maybe its skill?"

Bank Teller: "LOL"
Me insta-tilt

Also what is with people I think one of the tellers got fired because he looked at my balance and said "wtf" your 19 how are you so rich and I said "what do you mean"
He said, "Your 19 your not suposed to have that much money" I facepalm and walk out as he creates a scene.

If I were a pro to whom 20 bucks is like one big blind I'd probably just say yes, take the 20 and give them 40. Then they'd be like wtf and worship you as their new lord and savior.

Well, from their POV your gambing addiction is more important than their party, why exactly would they want to invite you the next time?

This was way off the page, wtf?

Anyhow last week won about $2k shippin a few mtt scores at poker. Mention to my gf in passing my money issues are ok for time being and can afford to go get smashed more.
She's then like "where" so i'm honest and say poker ldo.
Fast forward i pay 2nd visit to her parents house, her mum asks me about it, and she's like "dont you want to play more and lose it back tho?" Obv I just say no not really because dont want to go into details.
Anyhow I leave and go in other room, and gf is talking to her mum and auntie, and about and hour later gf comes in and tells me how her auntie has about $3k of debt that her husband doesn't know about that she needs to get rid of. Her auntie mentioned giving me some money to win more to get rid of her debt for.

I just let out a "lol" and thought of this thread and hoped that was it.
So far it is, but I'm prob seen as a degen now by the family :/

some ones that ive gotten after telling a few of my friends I go to the casino to play poker or play online poker

1. "youve won *that amount* of money??? you must be really good...
2. " dude you have a huge gambling problem, you play poker everyday, your gunna lose it all soon"

"poker isnt really gambling, such as blackjack, roulette, etc.. Plus i play small enough stakes not to go broke"

"well you soon will..."
3. "you need to go to gambers annonymous"

now all my friends think im a hard core gambler

actually, if I talk with smart people, I try to give them more information about poker, like bankroll management, variance and so on. This helps them to imagine what professional poker is about. If I speak with not so bright ones-I don't mind explaining them, just telling jokes about it-they won't understand anyway..
