I'm sure they are nice hotels, I do not really see what they could do better tho. And as far as BKK, the location is a bit meh, it surely has some nice river views but whatever, it's a river, it's dirty too. But it's not really close to anywhere you conceivably want to be.
I had a look at what hotel I was staying sometime ago in Sydneymöller, but it wasn't the Mandarin oriental, Shangri-La, close enough. See what I found looking for that hotel
