If Schneids came in a posted about winning a lot of money in a short period of time everyone would be congratulating him on his success because he is active amongst 2p2ers outside of this forum and he has a lot of friends who are glad to see him succeed. But instead of that we have a bunch of mid limit NL players who don't know [censored] about anything oozing with jealously and hatred because they'll never ever be as good as him.
it takes some real talent to be able to type so coherently with abas balls in your mouth.
I cant help myself but thats god damn funny. No offense to aba or sponger.

LOL no one is hating and literally I think noone is unhappy to see him succeed. Seriously read the posts. People have just said that in order to move from 2/4 to crushing 100/200 in 6 months you have to run good. Actually Schneids posted several times in these threads saying the same.

Wrong! You really don't have to "run good" if you're actually that good, you just have to play. You don't think that the best NL players online could take a 20 buy in bankroll at 2/4nl and move up to the highest games online within six months if they were completely deciated to this task?

Also, if you can't spot the hate in every thread that aba20 posts about his results it looks like you need to read the posts better than I do.

I think my main point would be that this isn't true.

Secondarily, PLZ do research b4 you post. I read all the threads today. 95%+ people patting aba on the back. Snagglupuss and others only semi-hate by suggesting that aba is running good. Certainly not ooziing with jealousy.

I quote Schneids from one of the threads(is he a hater too?)

Quote:
I don't know you, I hear you're an awesome guy, but this statement is ludicrious.

Trust me when I say you're running above average the last six months.
edited to add FU sponger I just spent the last 20 minutes rereading the threads. No hate! Everyone saying aba plz let me suck your balls! Snaggle puss prob semi-jokingly saying wow you're running really good! Aba being a big bitch about it and getting attention for it. Other people kind of siding with snaggle puss but certainly not hating on aba. Again FU I wanted to go to sleep plz read threads b4 you respond! Seriously quote all the "hate" you seem to pick up on that I must miss by just skimming over the posts. FU! (just to clarify b/c I am not impressed with how "hard" you read. I did not skim the threads. I read them thoroughly. PLZ quote what I must have missed.)

Possible, yes. Likely, no. It all totally depends on how you run when you initially make each jump in stakes. You get creamed once or twice when you move up to a new game, and it'll side track you a LOT and slow you down from moving up soooo much.

I'm not knocking aba's game at all as he surely is a top NL player. It's just, he's been fortunate enough to run good at the right times and when he does run bad (as i'm sure he has at some points, hence, why he asserts he has not ran overly well) it is at points in his transitions where his roll can handle it. Also, what he has said is his largest downswings thus far, are small in comparison to other top NL player's worst swings. Again, more evidence he has ran HOT this year.

Saying someone runs hot shouldn't be taken as a diss on them.

[censored], I'm the PPM champ. I ran hot there. OK? It's not a diss if someone says I ran hot and that helped me win it. Sure, I also played well, but I ran hot. OK.

This thread turned into a heated argument. That sucks.

Man, I thought I put in marathon sessions but ABA is like a damn kenyan with these marathons.

He's still sitting at the 100/200 PLO table. He's been sitting on 3/4 buyin profit for awhile, but that's still 15k, not bad.

Anybody know who triplewitch is? He made some sick nasty bluff pickoffs in the few minutes I was watching; on the river, scary boards, with one pair pickoffs. He's sitting with 6 buyins. I'm impressed.

Saying somebody runs good isn't a dis, most players can't profit and capitalize on their good runs. They don't even notice them. You still have to be a very good player to take advantage of the good runs.

Yeah I checked back in and now he's on 4 buyins. I missed the acttion. Goddamn triplewitch had 8 when he left though. Bananas.

I'm not trying to jump into the middle of anything but I thought it was being established that nobody is hating and, in fact, like 85% are outright worshipping.

hadn't read the updates in this thread in a while.

of course im jealous of anyone making sick ton amounts of money playing poker on the internet for their life.

im also jealous of lottery winners. and jealous of tom from myspace for being a billionaire. and will be jealous of whoever cures cancer.

no one has said aba isn't an excellent, world class online poker player, at least i haven't.

but to dismiss the importance of running well in these aggressive, high variance games is pretty dumb.

and to dismiss the variance that was obviously on aba's side as he moved up through the limits without a huge roll.

anyhow, WAY TO GO BRIAN~!

sponger, when did you become a douche?

i was mainly directing it at the people who keep saying he's running good, etc. i had no problem dealing with the downswings i faced (despite the facts that at 300/600 they are huge) and this guy is older and more experienced in poker than me. he will be fine.

I'm gonna go ahead and quote myself because I think it sums things up. I hope that's not too arrogant.

I know all of you, everyday, see somebody playing a hand so ******edly and weak, checking behind on the river with nuts and other [censored]. And you think, damn, give me your cards if you don't want them.

You must be very very good to maximize profit during good runs and minimize losses during bad runs, like ABA quite obviously has.

Yeah I can dig it. I guess I shouldn't speak for anybody but myself.

When I say he (or anybody) is running good, it's implied that they are also very talented, to be able to maximze a run to it's fullest potential.

It doesn't mean that when the run is over they will fall apart and go busto, it also means that they are talented enough to slow the bleeding and not have the bad run affect them nearly as much as it would a less talented player.

If anybody else was implying the busto part, that's just [censored] and I don't represent that camp.

I was watching him for longer just now playing PLO, my main game, and one he just picked up, and he is obviously very talented.

gildwulf,

this thread is for discussing how awesome aba is. not for you being bitter for me calling you a douchebag for taking 20 minutes to make a decision in a live poker game. and then subsequently misplaying your hand (though results showed call was +ev). and then crying about it.

please, take your personal bitterness elsewhere or to pm's. perhaps i can not suck at bbv by making 5k posts of uninspired one-liners and hope ~10% of them are funny?

now, back to telling aba he ran well, and being incredibly jealous.

Sponger,

I agree that there is a lot of jealousy in this thread, however some of the stuff you are saying here is silly trust me. Now, let me qualify this by saying that literally EVERYONE i have ever spoken two has had a ton of praise for Aba's game, he may be the best regarded internet player i have heard of. I also have a TON of respect for the amount of hours/marathon sessions he puts in, i think that is really impressive.

But as Schneids and others have said, you cannot do this without running hot. A large part of this comes from the fact that statistically, if you are taking shots, you should have a few go horribly wrong and set you back enough that it takes you a while to rebuild. It doesn't apply to just NL, it applies to all of poker in general trust me. I really think Brian should know that people are going to be jealous, and that some people remarking that you need to run hot to do this is not a knock on his game, and it does not take away from his accomplishments, it's just a remark that no matter how good you are, you need to run good at the right times to move up that fast. Period. All that said, congrats Brian, it sounds like you work harder for it than anyone.
