Yes, I have been successful live at NL200. After playings HU I find live 9max excruciating.

Home games. We were playing .10/.25 and once I started reading poker books I started crushing these games. Than a friend told me about fulltilt and I started playing SNGs. I then joined cardrunners and started playing cash games.

33. I haven't played for about 3 months as I have self excluded myself from all sites after losing my roll for the 20th time tilted and chasing losses.

Well, not in theory but in reality I guess yes. I think my hourly win rate over time playing NL200 live would probably be so low why bother. I live in NYC and I'm at the point in my career that I really don't want to do any outside work for less than $100/hour (I work in IT). So, I don't want to play poker unless it's fun. I'm sure that's part of my problem.

have you actually added up all the money you've deposited and lost?

if so why not post it, may actually help add some gravitas and seriousness to how much it is when people start saying 'zomg thats like 2 years wages' etc etc

I did this at one point here: http://norollctrl.wordpress.com/results/. This was my poker blog. As I mentioned previously, when I started losing I stopped wanting to keep track. I'm sure this is common and is why PTR is bad for winning players.

I am just going to say, its good you step up and be honest about ur loss.
Most things have already been asked, but I want to know why you have never started playing tournaments or sit and go?
Its more difficult to loose quick sums of money with a fixed buyin to an event.

and 5 star thread

Thanks for the nice words. I did play tournaments and SNGs. I actually think I was a solid winner at HU SNG turbos lol as I studied this a lot reading Moshman's book and others. However, I disagree with your last point. Many times I would tilt playing HU SNGs and just jump up stakes and lose my roll.

Do you think it's possible (or I should say likely) that you have the knowledge to be a winning player but have personality flaws like tilt and br mgmt that stop you from winning? If so have you tried seriously to fix these problems?

How many hands do you think you have played lifetime? If you could go back to the start and not take up poker would you?

Have you ever considered getting a coach?

Can you tell us if by losing player you mean slightly under breakeven (losing slowly) or losing at a fast rate?

I think I have the knowledge/talent to be a small winner at lower stakes. Probably something like $10 - $20/hour. Yes, emotional control and bankroll management are probably the biggest factor in making me a losing player. I have tried to fix these buy reading books (Tommy Angelo for example). It was helpful but I found I couldn't follow the advice DURING TILT.

I have never considered getting a coach because of the cost. I'm sure it would help me become better but I don't think would help my emotional control.

By losing player, I mean I am a loser overall. Generally, I would win at a slow rate but lose it all very quickly chasing losses on tilt.

If you found out you could start winning at $5 an hour if you put in 5 hours of work a week, would you keep playing?

If you could, and assuming that your net income be unchanged, would you quit your job to be a full time poker player?

are there any secrets to preventing players from sitting down with half a BI, and then insta-leaving if they manage to double up? Anything I can say/do to keep them playing me?

Nice concept. Thread title should be changed to "Your turn in the barrel".

i always type a pre-emptive "gg" in chat when i know they are about to sitout... in all seriousness it's actually been the most successful thing for me thus far and ive tried a bunch of lines.

..but i guess i shouldnt steal the show by trying to answer questions

you seem to have a deep understanding of why you're a loser at playing poker, yet apparently you're doing nothing to overcome these problems.

If you want to know the secret of winning as a losing player or generally someone who gets there money in bad but somehow comes out ahead.

Just type nh or gg into the chat when you are all in and behind do this before the flop and you will flop your 2-3 outter
