update on roll size?
Just started for the day. Running bad in my first set of SNGs, but it's early. Right now I have roughly $45 in account balance + equity.

Down to $25 + roughly $11 of equity. This game can be cruel.

Far be it for me to momentarily move the HIV threads slightly down the page, but...

Up to $74.58.

Nothing like a few dozen SNGs to start the day.

Yours in NLO8 mastery,

nate,

i think instead of hand histories a complete evolution of games would be preferred... At least, I would certainly prefer it that way.

Yeah, I could do that. Long way to go, of course, but when the time comes just let me know what you want to know.

Also, gettym, whose MTTc "how do I build a very small roll?" post sparked this whole thing, seems, erm, not to have found inspiration in this bet.

Out to lunch,

brag: i just got $50 on stars
beat: probably not good enough to run it up to $10k in a month
variance: i'll try anyway
beat: i suck too much to start my own thread about it and i'm not gonna make it anyway b/c i will exercise proper bankroll managementaments

That´s nice! Fifteen times your start amount. Even if you´re growing linear only, you will succeed within 6 days. Great job, keep us updated.

Hey, thanks for the enthusiasm.

Many SNGs later, I'm all the way up to... $78.53. That last three-hour block could have gone better.

I might have time for some more before bed (I'm roughly nocturnal these days), so I won't make the official end-of-day post yet, but that's where I am. That's the low side of my target range for the end of the day, but hey, variance happens.

***END OF DAY THREE UPDATE***

At 7 PM EST, when it will have been three days since I started, I will be asleep. I hope.

Current Account Balance: $83.78.

I was hoping for more, but things happen. Good thing the HU SNG session before bed was a winner.

All of today's activity was SNGs. I found that the $1.75 x 18s were (likely) beatable for rates comparable to almost all the $3.40s, so they were the bulk of my play. Tomorrow I'll be branching up and out.

Chat of the Day (directed at me):

Quick Thought:

One reason I try to keep sharp at many different forms of poker is to minimize the chance that the particular rotation will keep me from sitting when a bigger game happens to be good. Turns out that versatility is important at microstakes too -- there's a surprisingly thriving micro-NLO8 environment, for example, and there is no immediately obvious correlation between Stars' HU SNG buyin levels and the games spread at that level.

Thanks to 0evg0 and Ontario_Tory for the sweat and also to everyone who's wished me luck. I'll need it. (But no contact from Noah today. Maybe he's scared.)

Do you have daily goals? (other than the obvious 7-day $1k goal)

Also, would you please bear my children?

nate,
you can probably cruise to your goal playing hu plo8 sng's, and nlhe sngs when the roll gets more padded.

Likely. But:

-Minimizing risk of ruin, even were it already small, is nontrivial.

-The less bored I get, the more hours I can put in.

-I can't do too many tables of HU SNGs.

As for NLHE SNGs... I'm pretty rusty, but I'm also pretty sure they're my best option once I hit a certain point.

Go to one 50NL rape it for 200, rinse and repeat at 200NL then 400NL and you have your grand in 4 hours. Honestly, that would be my approach.

8-tabling standard SNGs, 1- and 2-tabling HUs.

Nah. This would actually be a terrible setting in which to structure my play around daily goals -- I can't afford to either stop short of maximal hours or play a different game than the one that will maximize my shot at $1k.

Heh.

Account balance: $140.53

Also have my equity in a $2 MTT. First break, currently 48/318.

Let's hear it for going 13-2 in a set of 15 HU SNGs.

yeah, definitely check out the low stakes regular speed SNGs nate -- besides the speed (obviously they will take longer to complete, which isnt too good since youre in a time crunch), your edge is significantly bigger because you'll have a deeper stack for longer, and there are almost no regulars in those games.

Interesting. I guess I could also play more tables if I stagger them a bit to counteract the speed.

Let's see how this 3-buyin shot at $6.50 turbos goes.
