Same with me, I also don't like that fantasy stuff with elves, orks and ****. But GoT really got me, I even read all the novels now (5000 pages ).

In a way, it has a high level of realism, including the use of classical fantasy elements like dragons, which are basically the nukes in the GoT universe. Also, I got the feeling that I learned more about the ways of people in the real middle ages than from history textbooks.

Another thing are the incredible twists in the storyline, I was literally shocked sometimes. It’s great stuff really. I’m sure it will be considered a classic in the decades to come.
