getting ****ed by a law I didn't know that even existed. as result, I will probably lose my license + and an irrelevent $277.

lol some short little ****er cop pulled us over for not "moving over" a lane in the winter. He was like "you almost hit my mirror!" and charged us with something driving related

But nah we wern't even that close or near his mirror, we prolly just scared him a bit. turns out the cop was a serial liar and when he was in court he was lying constantly all morning until it was over, judge was rolling his eyes, even the other lawyer was talking to us after like holyyyy **** i cant believe this guy.

needless to say it was dismissed

It might be my only option since I've got no other reasonable reasons to contest it. The thing is that in Quebec, the statement of offense is valid in court and it's the same that if the cop was there.

I agree, it's common sense as you said. One cop killed killed here for that. But it's still not a reflex for us since it's only been in application for 2 months. They couldve just gave me the $277 penalty and from this point on, I would know what to do next time. Since they gave me 4 points, I'm losing my license right away for 3 months.

By the way, this offence was equal in gravity as DUI (>0 to <0.08 for 23 yo and less). Québec logic ftw.

All over highways here is a sign "move over or slow down for stopped emergency vehicles". It's taught in driving education too. They may have made it punishable 2 months ago but seriously, you were never told to do this? Interesting regional differences

Before this law, never. I didn't even know why the cop pulled me over.

On the bright side, max penalty is $300. You saved $23 right there, wich should be enough to keep you hydrated for a few days.
