That's not the kind of stuff that is cheaper in Shenzhen, also me being superlame prolly want a QWERTZ, Morph knows what it is, so I can communicate with my remaining Germanmöller friends without too much möller issues. Amazon.de delivers and automatically subtracts Germanmöller VAT so that's not too bad...

In Shenzen they arrange the letters any way you want!

Hahaha, I heard the 464 came with an intergrated tape-recorder in the keyboard. Not that I ever saw one irl, I'm not that old.
04-17-2023 , 02:23 PM
I'm old enough to have tapes, and sure enough most of them are laying around unconverted in my parents house in a state of decay. I'm not old enough to understand what use a tape recorder would of have been in a computer of the 80s though. Or prolly just not nerd enough. I mean it's not like you could download any pron right, or even record radio. There wasn't even any freaking 4bit internet right? Ah well, what do I know?

I'm so old I used to watch this movie on tape!

I had a tape player with my Commodore 64. You would press play on it and it would download a few KB of programming, tops. Then we upgraded to the 8" floppy and that was the tits. Hundreds of KB. Hundreds.

I had a disc with a log of cool games on it, but I accidentally reformatted it and lost everything

Along with most old computers/consoles, there are plenty of Commodore 64 emulators/apps/games available, so you should be able to restore most of those lost games (tho I’d advise against doing the same for Atari 2600 or Trash-80 stuff ).

Once upon a time I used an Amiga emulator to check on some games I remembered playing in my early youth. The eye cancer was strong. To each thing there is a time I suppose...

Indeed, I'd be bored within minutes. With my PSPlus account, I have access to a few old PS2 classics, and they all suck, even though I loved that console at the time.

The only PS classic worth playing is wipeout, which is kind of the best game ever created. And maybe two or three others
04-18-2023 , 03:48 PM
Never played Wipeout. My favorites were Final Fantasy XII and Dragonquest VIII.

Now that I think about it, it was prolly because I was lazy. In FFXII, you could program your characters' fighting/healing/magic algorithm and just turn them loose most of the time, and you could have the computer choose the fight algorithm in DQVII, so I could just sit and drink and play tournaments while the game played.

No but you could buy Samantha Fox Strip Poker!

I actually wrote a program to print out a picture as a poster on multiple pages that you could then glue together, and used it to make a poster out of the last picture in that game!

what is LC/NC
04-19-2023 , 05:13 AM
LC/NC stands for "Letter of Credit / Non-Credit." It is a term commonly used in the context of international trade and finance.

A letter of credit (LC) is a document issued by a bank on behalf of a buyer, guaranteeing that the seller will receive payment for goods or services provided. This provides assurance to the seller that they will receive payment for their goods or services, even if the buyer fails to make the payment.

On the other hand, a non-credit (NC) transaction is one in which the buyer and seller do not use a letter of credit. In this case, the seller must rely on the buyer's creditworthiness and trust that they will make the payment.

Overall, LC/NC is a way of distinguishing between transactions that involve a letter of credit and those that do not.

Canterbury feral cat hunting competition for kids cancelled after backlash

Quote:
Organisers of the annual North Canterbury Hunting Competition announced the category for the most feral cat kills will be withdrawn, following a public backlash and media coverage.

The announcement, posted on social media late on Tuesday, said organisers had been “incredibly disappointed” by the reaction to the new category in the fundraiser, which they say prompted “vile and inappropriate emails and messages sent to the school and others involved”.

“Our sponsors and school safety are our main priority, so the decision has been made to withdraw this category for this year to avoid further backlash at this time.”

Entries remain open for all other categories.

Thank you for your explanation, now I understand. I've won the WSOP Main this year for $10,000,000 - which US domestic tax forms do I need to fill out?

All of them. Also, you are already too late, so don't pick up that soap, it's for your own good.

RIP NZ. I blame Morph
