Honestly, I'm inclined to agree with this.

Anyone who plays poker long enough and talks on the forums is going to talk **** to people once in a while, and it inevitably catches up with them.

I've called out people who went on to make 2-3 times my hourly and clearly became infinitely better players. I've also been called out by people who I went on to make 2-3x as much as. It's definitely not an uncommon occurrence in a game that promotes egos and dick swinging contests.

That said, no improved player that I once talked smack to has ever made a spite thread and wiped the floor with me. Likewise, I've never made a thread to highlight just how much better I've become than someone who once called me out. You make way more money than them, you're clearly better than them, and you both know it. It's a satisfying feeling, and there's just no urge to add insult to injury in a situation like that. And honestly, I'm an otherwise extremely spiteful person.
