What I find kind of confusing in this whole thing is OP clearly has something at least approaching a type A personality and is very motivated but by spending time on 2 different fields of work is surely minimising profit in one or the other; is it better to be in the top 10 percent of traders and poker-players or the top 5% as just a trader OR poker-player?

I'm definitely not realizing full profit potential in either field right now, or as a whole probably. But if I were going to do just one I would probably go with poker. The problem is I don't want to be a professional poker player for a lot of reasons, and don't want to quit my job for a lot of reasons... and I like poker for a lot of reasons, lol. So I just choose to do them all.

If you just put all your play towards SNE you could live off the bonuses alone

I don't know honestly. Interesting fact I found out a month or two ago: My cousin told me she sleeps 3 hours a night. She doesn't work like me either I think she works 40, maybe 50 hours a week. Meanwhile my dad has to get 8-10 hours of sleep or he's a mess.

Interesting fact #2: My mother was an entrepreneur. She was a nurse and then a hospital administrator. Eventually, she started a medical transcription company in the late 80s and a second one in the late 90s after she sold her first. When I was young and the first company was flourishing, she probably slept maybe 4 hours a night. She would work 16-20 hours a day. The company was basically successful because of her work ethic. I didn't realize what she was doing at the time and how hard she was working (like how ridiculous her hours were), but maybe some of it subconsciously worked itself into my brain.

Do you have any hobbies outside making money?
Do you play an instrument? Art/movies/TV/videogames? Working out/sports? Etc
Do you do your own laundry/cook?
Ever go out drinking/parties/meeting friends? Other things for recreation? Is sex enough to chill out for you after a long day etc (if so, what about last year)
Trouble waking up, how long does it take you to be at decent productivity after waking up?

Curious and gl

I play basketball about twice a month. Before I started this craziness I played three times a week so I am a big fan of the game. I have bears season tickets so I got to a lot of football games. I play video games occasionally as well. I have to pick and choose them carefully because I get addicted to them.

I play the guitar and the bass. I have played the guitar for 13 years now, but not very seriously for the past 3 years.

I like movies but not TV that much. I think 90% of TV is completely useless and rots the brain. I think reality TV is so ***** stupid and watching it is a complete waste of time. The only shows I watch on TV are poker shows, sports, and a few comedies like It's Always Sunny and 30 Rock.

Do you do your own laundry/cook?

Laundry/Clean: No. I have a personal assistant. She runs most of my errands for me and cleans my place. I am a filthy person and always have been. Now I can justify it by saying "Why would I clean when I have someone to do it for me?" Cook: Not any more. I used to cook almost every meal for myself and pack lunches. Now I eat out for probably almost every meal.

Ever go out drinking/parties/meeting friends? Other things for recreation? Is sex enough to chill out for you after a long day etc (if so, what about last year)

I go out all the time. I went out Thursday, Friday, Saturday last week. Last week was my Spring Break though and obviously my poker volume is down now too.

Trouble waking up, how long does it take you to be at decent productivity after waking up?

I do have trouble waking up, mainly because I never sleep well. I wake up every four hours usually so even if I try to get a good night's sleep I still wake up in the middle of the night. It doesn't take me long to be productive in the morning, I'm actually the most productive in the morning.

Curious and gl

Well since you're getting your 7 I assume you'll be dealing with customers and either brokering or doing investment so in that regard I can't really help as I work for a private company with no customers on an automated trading desk. However my advice is try to stay cool the entire time you're at work. I know for the first few years the actual amount of money we were dealing with and our daily swings would give me a lot of stress, but much like poker I learned to deal with it and roll with the punches without getting too stressed about short term results, but that can definitely be difficult.

jesus you win life

The thing I want most from your life is the sleep. I would kill to be able to crush with 4 hours nightly

are you getting supernova elite again this year? I'm guessing that's purely a motivational thing? Personally if I had a well paying job and could beat msnl I would just play whatever and not worry about milestones and such. again, super jealous

i like op and like his blog but i'm surprised at how much jealousy and admiration people are throwing him. does that lifestyle really sound that appealing?

op, why not work on your game and play higher stakes for less hours and live a more balanced life?

No SNE for me this year. My body can't take a third year of this. It's just too much and I'm getting too old for it (27 now lol). Plus I have a lot of money saved up from the past few years and don't really feel the need to as much.

That is exactly what I am doing this year. I'm playing the EPT main and the WSOP main and just taking more time off work / school and playing less poker. I'm just going to take it a little easier and enjoy the benefits of my hard work these past few years a little.
