Yes definitely. I have written about it a ton of times, in my blog and well I think. I dug up this post
http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...&postcount=206 where I talk about some of the similarities between the two. As far as characteristics that make a good trader and good poker player:
Intelligence, both street smarts and book smarts are necessary for both.
Fearlessness, ability to separate oneself from the value of money in order to make the best decision in a situation that doesn't involve being scared money.
Understanding of basic to intermediate statistics, knowing what various statistics truly mean and how they are calculated so you can understand important metrics and use them to analyze situations and improve your processes.
Money management. BRM for poker / efficient capital allocation and usage in trading if that is a constraint (a lot of times it isn't).
Familiarity with technology. You have to be good with computers to be a real player in today's poker or trading world. You can get by without it, but you are at a significant disadvantage if you don't keep up with the technology.
I could go on and on about this, but that is just a taste of similar characteristics of poker players and traders.
