So I found out from a peer last night that a Mangement group took a registered story I showed them last month as are trying to produce it with someone else without paying me for my part of it. I've done stand up gigs or editing jobs before and been stiffed but this is the first time I've had someone try to make something i wrote without paying me the union wage for the work. Pretty pissed off because it's a 5 figure fee I'm being screwed on and it's going to be a pain in the ass to get paid or to file the motions needed to stop them from producing it.

I went right to sending an invoice for what they owe - they know what they did. They insinuated in our final meeting they may try to do as much and I basically laughed it off as they wouldn't be that pennywise and pound foolish but I guess I was wrong.

I've had other production companies and studios have me only do a treatment or a re-write on something and just pay me for that part. So I don't really care that they want to move on without me work wise but they have to pay me for what I did that they are using.
