I'll kick off:

Started 2.5 years ago
[x] I 2-tabled 10NL with a $50 bankroll
[x] I played something like 15/5/1 (the only reason I won is probably because my opponents died of boredom)
[x] I felt like a complete degen after losing $30 one night
[x] I believed in the cashout curse and took a week off after every cashout
[x] I genuinely believed Absolute Poker was rigged (at 5c/10c NL yo).

Would be interesting to see some high stakes ballas chime in with their behaviour when they were still puppies learning the game...

hmm...

[x] I played underage
[x] I played way out of my limits... (100NL with $400)
[x] I cried when I lost my $400 Bankroll. (Remember this is when I first started out, ldo.)
[x] Will add to the list when I can think of more.

Well, being a high stakes baller now (grinding 6.50 sngs)... I'll tell you about my first experience playing poker.

Once I deposited 50$ onto Bugsy's Club, I got drunk and played a 30$ HU sng. All my friends were gathered around my comp, and I lost QQ to A3 AIPF.... we all thought it was the worst beat ever. It stung for a few days.... felt like a total degen.

Started 1.5 years ago
2-3 tabled NL25 50 euro br
TPTK=nuts
KJ, KT instacall preflop
Ending a session w/o profit - impossible. Guess how many times I went to bustoville because of this?
Chase any flush/str8 draw to river!
Limp/call any suited.

Year ago or so I still had a really stupid habit, play a week M-F, earn my 10-15 BI-s and donk it off at the weekends playing drunk and waaaay over my limit.

.Discovered poker and played play money every night for 6 months whilst religiously studying Sklansky books. Yes didn't touch real money for 6 months, I am an uber nit. 3 of those months were draw poker.

.Felt like a baller when I would win $300 play monies in a night at the 5/10 limit on Party.

.Used to play 8 hour sessions of heads up play money limit on Paradise and my signature 8 bet rebluff on the river was highly profitable imo. No, I didn't have a clue.

.Deposit $50 on Party and win $11 in one hour at 50c/$1 limit. Told friends I made $11 per hour at poker. In two days I moved up to 3/6 limit so they would respect my raises and proceeded to win $600 1 tabling in a day. Told flatmates I would have $5k pretty soon and would be killing the 10/20. Lost it back the next. Felt completely crushed. Flatmates couldn't have been happier.

Belived that 510o was one of the best starting hands since it can make so many str8s and flushes.

I had $8 on Ladbrokes in the beginning of 2007. I started playing NL2, cashed $200 in a freeroll and moved up to NL5 and NL10. I now have a $4k BR.

It makes ALL of the straights... power hand without a doubt

For me, thinking that TPTK was the holy grail of all hands.... and then trying to trap people with it.

For me, playing overly tight pre flop and also check raising the flop every time I hit TPTK because I thought it was an amazing hand.

I used to push with any draw because that's what Doyle told me to do.

Oh, god... I started back in 2004 and only played on Stars. There weren't play money tournaments back then, nor play money sit n go's, and I wanted to be a tournament player, so I had to try to snag one of the 3 or 4 freerolls they ran per day. They'd get full immediately after registration opened, so for the 8:00PM one (maybe it was 7:00), you'd sit there an hour before with the tourney lobby open, and position your cursor right over where the register button was going to appear and try to click it as soon as it came up in order to not be blocked out of the tournament.

Also, when I didn't have to work the next day, I'd get up at 3:00AM to play in a ****ing freeroll.

- 1 tabled
- played $6 SNGs on a $50 deposit. I thought I was being conservative. 8 buy-in bankroll yo.
- My early game strategy was "tight" and consisted of limping any pocket pair, any suited hand, any 2 cards ten or higher, any ace, and any king.

Early epiphanies I remembered having were the concepts of variance and bankroll management, realizing that my "tight" early game strategy was absurdly loose/passive (it was so painful to fold T5s from UTG), and definitely the biggest - the late game push/fold strategy.

When I finally ran my bankroll up to $500, including a massive 2nd place in a freeroll for $125 (note: that took me 6,5 hours), I played some blackjack for fun. After losing some hands I thought "let's Martingale it up". Needless to say I lost about $370 and was _TOTALLY_ devestated. After that I almost tilted the remaining $130 away, but with $9 left in my account I finished second in a MTT SnG for $36. Those $45 have become over six figure lifetime winnings, but I still remember that degenerate BJ session.

I also remember coming home from soccer and being very wasted. I was like "let's play a $20 MTT for fun, ohw, there's one seating right now, quick!." Turned out it was a $320 MTT, so at that time I had 35% off my roll riding on that one. Finished just in the money after my KK spiked a K against AA, which relatively still is one of my most important suckouts ever.

- I was able to actually play on party
- Had to hide it from my parents because I still lived at home
- Had to quickly shut off my monitor whenever they walked in
- Parents probably thought i was into horse pron or something

Oh those were the days
