The other day old man super nit and me were in a hand where he made it $10 pre at 1/2 and i called the button with J9 because we where deep. flop comes TQ3dd with a. he bets 15 i raise to 45 and he calls. Turn is a 8d completing flush and giving me a straight. He leads for 50, i make it 125 and he rips it for 500 more. I'm sick that i raised, even though i think its the correct play, and folded my straight. old guys looks at me and says good fold and shows me AA no diamond :/

Tonight at my local 2/5 game ... We have 7 people in their chair. Ok let's start. We are running 30 min late.

Deal one hand and old man coffee exclaims "deal me out... I'm not playing 7 handed"

Really you old nit? Then we get 8. Refuses to play. Says he came for 10.

Tilted me immediately.

fun player folds after 5 minutes showing top pair that he was very likely going to call off with since i had been aggressive at the table / his logic.

tldr drunk whale crushed my soul (trying to help me?)
I'm pretty easygoing but this would make me seriously consider setting the poker room on fire.

Now that twitch poker is blowing up... I can't play cards without hearing "So sick" every other hand... Someone will be ahead preflop, post flop, after the turn, and on the river... show their hand, and the other person will be like.. wow that's so sick.

IT'S NOT "SO SICK" YOU JUST LOST. GET OVER IT.

I hate poker lingo

Buy in to a tournament, starting stack includes eight yellow 1k chips and one orange 5k chip plus change. After the floor gives the rules speech about not hiding chips, OMC next to me tells me to put my 5k on top of the 1ks.

Mind your own ****ing business, pal. It's right there up front and everyone can see it. I'm almost never going to break out my 5k chip in the 25-50 round so seriously just shut the **** up

When someone comments on my stack. The fact that it's 'so big' or that it 'was' big an hour ago and....'what happened' ?

I hate that.

When OMC who only opens QQ+ for 30 dollars (at the 1/2 table) and opens AA for 50 looks over and says "look at you, you're rich".

FU old man. I hope your tour bus crashes on the way home and you die in a grease fire !!!!!!!

lolll

He's genuinely saying that to induce a fold. I'm not even kidding. Then some other young "pro" will look at him at say "Aces for sure" and OMC will smirk and say "didn't want them to get cracked this time".

Said OMC then then replaced by OMS (Old Man Soup) about late afternoon / early evening. He has played some 8 hours, enough to get a comped soup.

When players act like you're the douchebag for making them show their hand first at showdown when you called them. Someone hesitates I get it, you were bluffing or have dog**** and are embarrassed, and if the pot is only like $300 I'll let it slide and go ahead and table what I already know to be good. But some nit makes an absurd river check raise on me for a $2000 pot and I hero call and he just refuses to show letting me know that ANY pair is good and that the pot is mine and I caught him, if you're going to make me pay $1000 to see a showdown I want to see what your ****ing with me with.

In this scenario (which happens soo often in low-stakes live) I take a leaf out of Phil Laak's book. I was watching an episode of HSP or maybe it was PAD, and once Phil called the river-bet with what was essentially a bluff-catcher, he responded to his opponent's unwillingness to table his cards by saying, "I want to see your cards, and then I'm going to show you the winning hand." I LOVE this line, because it shows that you're not intentionally slowrolling, but you just want to see what cards your opponent was fooling around with.

I never ask to see. Have watched too many guys take that same line and demand to see a hand, only to have the old geezer turn over two pair he didn't know he had, or a 4 flush, or some other random bull****. Give him one more chance to make a mistake and muck.

That sounds kinda different though, like the pot got checked twice and he forgot his hand kinda thing. We're talking a direct targeted attack whereby someone makes a river bluff. No way they simultaneously bluffed you while forgetting they just sucked out. Since live players almost always try to avoid showing their cards, I think you stand to gain much more info by making them show rather than the 1 in a million chance they sucked out without realizing it.

OMC flat calling a $55 turn bet with $22 behind, and then on the river, OOP tank-Hollywood-I-don't-give-a-**** splashes it in into the $220 pot.

The board will be 8-7-4-5-4 rainbow. And his actions will make you puke in your mouth with your 9-6 before being forced to even call the $22 getting 12:1 with the nut straight. You don't even have to look. It will be pocket 5's 99.85% of the time. Then he'll proceed to tell his neighbor "I called to see the board pair". I don't even mind these calls and suckouts, especially when the opponent is broke. What's tilting is his acting. One would think, 70 years of experience would've taught him something.
