Re: Things people do in casinos that tilt you

Always a bad idea to say anything about the chips they r cashing in for a customer. I go to a charity game where regular joes run the bank. People cash out for a grand and they get all excited and say "whoa, we got a big one here! Looks like u had a great night!" Then they r reminded that people who cash out for a grand could still have lost 5k that very session and to keep quiet. F that cage lady. She has no excuse

Good lord, the old ****s at the charity games are the *worst*. Don't know how to count chips, can hardly count money (you'd think old people would be familiar with cash from before the "everyone uses a credit card for everything" days ... but NOPE), waddle over to the table carrying $300 in their hands instead of using a rack, etc.

Then the comments. "Looks like a good night" No ****er, I'm in for three times that, you brought me the chips 30 mins ago.

After walking over to the table to deliver a re-buy: "who needs chips?" I don't know, the one that just yelled at the dealer, looks pissed off, and has the money in front of him maybe?

Me, annoyed: "Well that's why you probably shouldn't ask gamblers in a casino 'how they did' because they often lose and don't want to talk about"

Woman, gaining attitude because I was annoyed: "Well you can enjoy life without gambling and losing."

Me, defending my pride: "Poker isn't gambling. I make a living playing - it's a game of skill."

Woman, visibly smug: "Whatever you say."

Me, livid: "You really need to check yourself."

Woman: "Sounds like a personal problem."

Me: "You really shouldn't be talking to customers this way. The customer is always right and you're the employee."

Woman, lacking all sincerity: "Have a nice day sir"

I expounded about the treating customer part several times and she just kept repeating "Have a nice day sir" until I walked away.
No offense but you sound like a ****ing ******

1) If you cant help but mope around in a depressed haze after a bad session then you cant afford to play
2) The employee was just making small talk
3) Own up to your suckiness and tell her "I did terrible, lost a lot tonight" then laugh it off
4) Dont refer to your "profession" (which I doubt it is) as gambling and then tell her it is a skill game when she calls you out on it
5) You're not a customer, you're a player. There is no "customer is always right" mentality here.

i actually LOVE how she ends the situation: just keep repeating "have a nice day sir" until you leave. that's perfect and exactly what i'd tell her to do as a manager. just keep saying "thank you and have a nice day"

I hope you realize the errors of your way and apologize to her next time you are there. That's what a real man would do. Admit when you are wrong.

Everyone knows me as one of the nicest people in the casino. I'm friends with everyone. I can't be perfect all the time though and actually rarely ever let down swings or bad sessions get to my attitude. However when I was up 1k in this session and left immediately after my last and 3rd consecutive cooler in 2 rotations from the same guy, I have the right to be frustrated for the next 90 seconds and want to keep to myself. I did engage in conversation with her but if she had any sort of perception she'd know to not continue the conversation, especially in the way she did.

Also I am 100% the customer. I pay rake which goes to pay their job. I guarantee you their manager would side with me. I fear I'm not describing the tone she took with me. She was being really nasty as if I was some sworn enemy of hers.

So if you are such a nice guy you would understand why you should go and apologize to her. Unless of course the 'nice guy" image is just an image you give yourself and not actually a true one.

This is where I would lose my **** and insta call for a manager. She sounds like a total **** with a bad attitude. I hate it when employees act all condescending and give attitude from a position of superiority.

Do you know who pays their salaries? The establishment.
Do you know who funds the establishment? The customers. Have some respect for the people who pay your bills.

I am siding with the customer here. She harassed him about HIS money and when he called her out on the way she talked to customers, she outright ignored him and told him to f*** off. No she did not tell him to "have a nice day", she told him to go eat **** and piss off. If she doesn't care about customer satisfaction then maybe she should be a chatter box when someone obviously just wants to cash his chips and go home.

I have only filed two official complains against employees (and their restaurant franchise) in my life and believe me, the girl this OP describes sounds nastier than any of the person I had to deal with. When he told her she shouldn't talk to customers in that way, he is clearly telling her she did something he is not happy about and she should just apologize and end it. No rub it in and tell him to f*** off.

Let me guess, government / state run casino?

I'm siding with Havax too. She was out of line from the start, especially the line about "it doesn't sound like you did ok." (Paraphrasing...not going to go back and get the exact quote.)

I'm surprised that their basic training doesn't cover this major faux pas. It's just common sense to not ask the customer how they did; the casino makes money off of the people who lose. Why alienate them?

The only way to make a true assessment of the situation is to have the woman at the cage post her perception of how this went down. That being said, not everyone has great skill at diffusing or handling cranky people (although working at a casino I think you should be better than most considering the environment).

Re: Things people do in casinos that tilt you

The government casino dealers/employees are often abusive to say the least. And why should they not be? Because they can.

Imagine you're sitting quietly at a clothing shop that you work at, reading something on your iPhone (while getting paid) and a customer walks in asking questions and prices with no intention of buying. And then starts a social conversation about stuff you don't care about. You almost immediately feel contempt for that customer and grit your teeth and smile and hope he just disappears in the pit of the earth.

Now imagine you were untouchable, you job was secure, your supervisor was there to protect you and getting fired was one long tedious process that required tangible reasons (just as hard as it was getting the job in the first place). You will out your anger and the very same people that you are forced to serve.

At our local casino if you sat down and did something innocuous that you were not supposed to, like touching cards at blackjack or Pai Gow, or re-arrange your chips, the dealer will come out at you in full attacking mode "SIR DON'T TOUCH THE CARDS PLEASE SIR", as if you had just pulled a gun. You can't say nothing back because the pit boss will only enforce the abuse the dealer just served you. Casinos are ***********. They are not selling a product. They are selling hope. You HOPE to win free money by gambling and if you want to keep that hope you need to put up with the abuse from the dealers and staff. It won't matter that your EV is so negative that it pays for the high salaries of the staff. You will continue to gamble because the chemicals in your brains will not allow you to stop.

just because you pay rake doesn't give you the right to make an ass of yourself, or treat other people poorly.

she was trying to make small talk, and clearly is not trying to be rude, and you act like a total *******, she reacted and escalated which was wrong on her end, but you fail to act like an adult and continue to escalate the situation. Just like a small child would do.

Being a grown ass man means you should be able to handle yourself regardless of how your night is going. When you say that you just got collared x times by the same guy, it shouldn't effect how you treat another human.

you were way out of line, and if i ever served you food in a restaurant i hope i **** in your gumbo

Re: Things people do in casinos that tilt you

I was at the golden nugget in AC a few months ago and hit with 17.50 on a number in roulette. The dealer shorted me a 100 bucks and I called him out on it. I did the math right on my phone in front of him 17.50 x 35 = 612.50 not 512 as that's what they gave me. And the pitboss starts to kinda go back at me. Yes I was pretty drunk at this point and then I start to go off on some rant about how they try and take advantage of players and they wouldn't do this to someone sober etc etc. Of course my wife walks up and hears me flipping out at the pitboss and is all worried I'm gonna get kicked out.

Long story short, they made a big mistake trying to short me a 100 bucks and then made me out to be the bad guy for calling the dude out. He's got one job to pay out the correct chips, it shouldn't be up to the drunk gambler to make sure his winnings are correct. Any other establishment they would apologize and treat the customer right, but not in a casino.

Re: Things people do in casinos that tilt you

Happened to me a while back in Vegas at the Venetian. Playing high stakes Pai Gow, alternating between player and bank. Now the staff was very friendly and even sucking my balls. I was having a dream session. Totally drunk but well aware of my surroundings.

I always open my hand 4-cards at a time. So I open up: K-10-9-joker with three diamonds. A very high EV hand. Any diamond, Q or J and I am freerolling with a flush or straight. Any pair and I am putting A-K on top as the low hand. Two diamonds and I am putting the Joker (ace high) on top but possible a pair as my low hand.

For whatever reason they declare the hand "non compliant" and try to void the hand. I was like wtf the cards are already open and I do not know if they would void the hand if I had something like T-8-4-2 offsuit on my opening four cards. Called the bit boss' boss and also demanded to speak to a manager. The hand was at a pause for a good 15 minutes and I would not take no for an answer. There was quite a crowd around and I was making a scene. Like, the cards have been open and they are claiming the hand dead. They finally gave it to me. I don't even remember the outcome of the hand. I think I made a flush with rags on top for a push.

But Venetian is scum. I had three free nights there before even landing based on previous play. While playing there I had earned plenty of playing point to get free food for the remaining of my stay for myself and my friends. Down $11K and out of money, they rob me off of my free room and refuse to comp us even a coffee at the Grand Luxe. The Executive host Violet treated us like animals. And I don't mean domestic animals. Animals you're about to slaughter alive.

I was once sat at the table, eating a tuna sandwich. I was very drunk and dropped tuna on my top. The dealer says: Would you like a bib?
I'm not 100% on what happened next as my memory is blurry. But it involved me getting very angry, calling the manager then tilting my stack off.

****ing ****s.

On the topic, nothin tilts me more, than when on top of clearly terrible binge, you bet all the loot on one bj hand, make a 20 and obv lose to some 5 card 21. Then the dealer makes a shocked face, looks at you and the rest of the table in disbelief. Can u just let me ****ing slink away talking to myself, you old hag?

Fuuuck, those degen sessions were the worst. Other than being much better financially, I think I woulda been healthier/smarter by never gambling.

(I still get the itch. BAD).

Re: Things people do in casinos that tilt you

My first time playing live I was played 4/8 limit, this 50 something year old guy was drunk as **** calling down with any pair on any board, spewing pretty hard. The 10 handed game which generally has 4-5+ people seeing a flop somehow folds to him in the SB with me in the BB. He limps, I raise with ATo, he calls. I flop a pair on like A94 or something similar. He check/calls all 3 streets. After he calls river he asks if I have top pair in a sad "please don't have top pair" tone of voice. So I say "yea" and proudly turn over my AT. He immediately laughs and proclaims "2 pair" turning over 64 or some **** for river'd 2 pair.

So much tilt
