Re: TheLoon's challenge: $10k on 25nl EVP

He's at 71% of what he should be. Needs to earn $490.45 a day for the rest of the challenge to make it. At this rate will finish at $7137.75. Current earnings $4605.

He started today @ $4605 profit and has 11 days to go, including today.

Thats like 132 hours of grind where he has to make $5395 profit to win his bet....

He currently plays 28/25/6.6.

I would have expected a nittier style, so he could handle these 12 tables more easily, without having to take close decisions.
Don't you think so?

lol yea, i think it would work better if he was like 16-20 tabling and playing like 18/15 which still isn't all that nitty at those stakes.

i bet he could have a similar or higher winrate and get in more hands.

but i don't know the terms of the bet. nor have i ever made 10k in a month at nl 25.

You can't play more then 12 tables on EVP afaik.

I think his play is quite impressive in general but the schedule is just to tight to make it. Of course taking a day off is the most silly decision an individual in his position could ever take...

Would be funny if he falls like $600-700 short. If I was playing for $100K and my gf could not come over to blow me while I'm playing it would be insta gg.

I am not going to do the prop bet in the traditional sense that I originally intended. Two big things have changed since I originally wanted to do the challenge. First of all my health became an issue and I am still trying to get to the bottom of what happened. As many of you know I had a heart attack a few years back and as a result, have to be very careful with the things I take on as I have a tendency to want to do more than my body allows. Whether that be long hours or doing too much at the gym or whatever. I had some anxiety issues which can then in turn trigger heart palpatations and even had to leave mid round in a golf tournament I was in 2 weeks ago and go to the ER. When I get the clearance to do a prop bet style challenge, I plan on doing so.

Secondly, I have become somewhat soured to wanting to involve many of the 2+2 members on something like this. There is a very large community of people that are apparently jealous of what I accomplished and are quick to tear me down. Many cannot grasp why I have accomplished what I have accomplished without taking the traditional route of nosebleed poker and the swings asscoiated with it. They also cannot grasp how I have done well without playing a crazy LAG style like most of the top pros play. So as a result since they cannot understand it and they perceive me as a threat of some kind, they just come up with incoherent nonsense to try and tear me down. My goals just differ from most poker players. I want to make the most money I can make with the least amount of variance combined with being able to make my own schedule. When you play nosebleed stakes, you are often waiting around for games, introducing million dollar swings and not always making the most money you can make. The reasons why are the psychological effects of the downswings combined with the small number hours you can play and likely BR issues from time to time when things are bad. I like to be somewhat nitty with my BR, make my own schedule and then get a little more lose with money with my other entrprenurial activtes where I guess you might say I am pretty LAGGY with them..lol.

Because I set my goals to make the most money while making my own schedule and the smallest amount of variance possible, many will never give me the repsect I deserve. Bryce actually made a great post a day or so ago and I will copy paste it in here. It basically sums up exactly what I have thought......."what becomes the issue here, and what probably deserves some more attention, is the issue of metric. If two people get into a dick waving contest you're going to want to make sure you're measuring the same thing. If generating income is all that's particularly important to you about poker then LA's a man-beast. If being able to shred your peers when competing directly against them is hugely important to you then this is less so.

One thing I should point out is that Dusty's primary concern with poker has been generating revenue, and he's extremely good at what he does. In my mind it's very difficult to diss somebody for excelling in what they want to achieve, even if it's not a particularly valuable thing to you yourself. Dusty's ability to grind the volume of hands he does and to constantly field the sort of focus necessary for doing so is an amazing skill, and something I wouldn't be able to do myself. Even though I don't aspire to emulate him I certainly don't respect his ability to do what he does any less....and I also get that it may grate on LA that a lot of people will never give him kudos for being able to do some very impressive things with poker and out-earning all but a small handful of online cash players each year."

So I have decided to stop wasting time trying to defend myself to these people and refocus my energies on helping people with their games through stuff like this well thread and in the forums on Stoxpoker. It just seems like a much better use of my time and a much better enviornemnt to be in. Why would I want to waste my time sifting through nonsnse from stupid jealous haters when I could be spending that time helping others who are just genuinely trying to make every effort to better themselves? It makes no sense. Sometimes it takes me awhile to "get it" but in the end I usually do and hopefully the segment of the poker community that I actually want to be around will benefit in some way through my help. That is my hope anyway and like I said before, feel free to keep the questions coming as I am more than happy to do what I can to help out.

To sum up everything, I am tentatively planning on doing a self induced challenge that I will post on Stoxpoker and in this forum. I think what it will be is to challenge myself to make $250k in one month of playing 5/10 and 10/20nl. I believe I can do this. If I get the clearance from my Dr.s to do this AND everything with my life is in order in terms of my business projects and everything else that could potentially conflict, then I will likely go forward with this challenge this fall/winter. I have long wanted to do this and had every intention of doing so with the 2/4 bet until those two things factored into the equation. All of the work I have done with Jared Tendler combined with my natural work ethic is something I have wanted to put to the ultimate test and I am kinda sad that it didn't work out they way I had hoped. But I think that the $250k challenge will satisfy that craving for a challenge anyway.
