Excellent advice dude. I think I experienced a bit of "brain melt" last year and it carried into this year. Currently I'm doing a 1-2 days a week each of Yoga, Crossfit, and Core lifts (squats.) Probably exercise 3-4 times total with varying intensity, and then do some mobility stuff and some pull ups around the apt. Pretty excited to try this bio-hacker-esque power plate thing on Monday. Not expecting it to change my life, just thinking it will be a cool thing to mix in.

Big thing I learned this year is that I get to build my own life. I'm my own manager. So sure the guys at the crossfit gym encourage me to come in 4-5 times a week, and the people at yoga would like to see me all the time there, and people expect if you lift it's 3-4 times a week (do you even lift bro?)

I decided to figure out what my goals are, and then what time I can devote where and stick to it. Otherwise I'm doing something all the time for a while, feeling great, and then I 'get busy' and find I'm not doing that thing at all anymore, and I lose a lot of progress. I'd rather be doing activities I think are positive for my life on an ongoing basis, and giving them an amount of my time that makes sense based on all my goals.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Woke up before 9am again today! What is this? Usually I'm still up at this hour. Just did a review session, I'm trying to find a cool hand for you guys for the end of the post.

Costume Freeroll still live ($10)
NEW HINTS:
*One of the 2 main pieces is a suit jacket.
*The accessory is some form of a tie
*I imagine people on the forums will hate on me severely for this costume (Hatersgonnahate tho)
*Remember, it's a pretty douchey costume and I'm probably gonna be pretty cold.

Still need to play ~10 hours so I just wrapped up my study and I'm gonna get after it. Like mediation, I actually think time studying is basically a freeroll in the sense that it doesn't really take time out of my playing b/c I will play for longer as a result and need less breaks. It helps me be in that studious mindset where I'm viewing poker as a strategy game. The moment you are thinking about your results you're out of the 'solve poker' mentality and back in the 'win money' mentality, and only one of those goals is something you can tangibly work on.

The less often I feel like I'm not sure what to do in a spot, the easier my decisions are. That leads to less mental stain, more of a smile on my face, a better mood and more hours grinding. You get worn out pretty quick when you're constantly bombarded with tough decisions, and it feels that way the more unsure you are of your game.

Didn't find a hand for you guys today. I thought I marked one where I made a straight flush and got 3 streets from 5 high but I can't find it (5 high, not a 5 high flush.) If I get done early enough maybe I'll make a video before I go out tonight. For now it's day 12 grindddddd tiiiiiiiiiiiimmmmmmmmmmme.

Honestly, I don't know what bounces around more, my sleep cycle or my location on the globe. My home in Canada is Vancouver, although I may go to Montreal in the future to be close to my family (in NY.) Currently I'm traveling Europe, in Budapest for the moment. About 6 hours ahead of NY time and playing 2-4 session of 2-6 hours any time after 10am?

It's certainly possible, and it's difficulty is a factor of stakes played, tables played and hours. This isn't easy for me and I don't think it would be easy for a lot of people. Started the challenge off w/ a 20K bankroll playing games that can have 500BI swings. Trying to 14 table profitably 8 hours a day is difficult for me. Hopefully as the challenge goes on and my skills improve it will get easier.

Basically this KQo call, by my best estimation using available tools (ICM calc) and considering all factors that seem pertinent to me (considerations ICM calcs don't fully replicate,) still loses over 4% of the prizepool on average based on the chip distributions and the projected equity of my stack if I were to call vs fold. This SNG was a 6max $60 hyper turbo with a prizepool of ~$360 (less cause of rake but I'm not being exact here.)

$360 * .04 = $14.40

Not exact, but no amount of rationalizing or purposeful deviation from standard play could make this disaster-call acceptable.

Well luckily someone got it so that won't be necessary

If you really want to see me without a shirt on:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Funny story from our night out:

So my buddy Alex was dressed as Tiger and I walked by him absolutely going at it on the dance floor with this little Hungarian girl in a skeleton costume. I went back up to our table and decided to see if I could take a video of the magic going down, but this girl appropriately dressed in a witch costume comes over and forcibly prys this girl off of Alex and starts reprimanding her. This was a staggeringly aggressive c-block if I've ever seen one.

I look to my roommate Shane, who is dressed as Bad Santa and doing his absolute best to play the part. He nods to confirm the atrocity we've just witnessed and then says “So, should I throw a drink on her?” Before I can respond the girl is drenched and absolutely flipping out. She has no idea from which angle she was rudely bombarded by someone looking to ruin a good time, and neither did Tiger or Skelator.

Pics or it didn't happen:

I made a video update on my challenge progress and some thoughts I have on sustaining your energy levels. The goal with energy is to be in a continual state of accomplishment rather than burning yourself out.

I was semi trolling when i said it was easy, its easy for like .5 percent of the people that would ever post in this forum

Its a fun challenge and a great way to not only get your name out there but also get a bunch of motivation to put in the work. Its amazing how much motivation a bbv prop bet thread can really provide

Are you saying that if you lose the 20k then your done and you lose the prop or your able to reload/get staked to continue. I would think your approach should drastically change depending on which of those options is available. When I did 450k vpp in a month I started December with a 13k roll and if I lost that I lost the bet/would be busto/probably marry for money so the first few days I spent playing shorter sessions and booking winning sessions as much as I could and play extra hours later. What type of approach have you been taking so far with that? How have you been doing the 8 hour/day? Not super familiar with away from the table type of work at turbo's sng these days but I found that I never looked over a HH during that time lol, how much work are you putting in that department while your not grinding?

Glgl, putting in the vpp for this bet will be easy, not losing more than you stand to make will be the actually challenge of this

It sounds like you are in a good place. I don't lift anymore...I did P90x and got in the best shape of my life but then I tore a bunch of muscles in my back and haven't been the same since. So I kind of soured on that. I do yoga three times a week and bought a hybrid bike I ride once in a bit although the weather is turning for the worst here. I think at this point in my life I prefer the more cardiovascular/mental health focused regimens. I know I sound like a woman but that's how it is. I've never been much of a whey protein / creatine / body building person so no reason to force it, if that makes sense.

This thread really has has a fantastic impact on my motivation. Now I'm playing for the followers, for the group effort, for the challenge. It's not about me and that makes it really cool.

If I lose 20K I can get staked to play $60-100 hypers and $100-200 turbos. That doesn't "change my strategy" tho. The original bet was placed between friends, and in the spirit of the bet I'm expected to only move up in stakes if I progress naturally. The staking provision only exists b/c the goal isn't to make me homeless if I fail. Exact terms are in the OP.

I've been trying to do ~8hrs a day, but it turns into some 3-5 hour days and some 10-13 hour days. I definitely feel my game often deteriorates if I play over 8 hours in a day so I'm aiming to play a similar amount every day. I'd really like to be getting $1250 rake paid a day b/c I want to get ahead in order to reduce the chance I could fail. If I can perform well and have positive results the challenge will feel easier, so I study 45min-1 hour almost every day. I plan to keep these habits and this balanced approach to life beyond the challenge, with the luxary of playing 4 hours a day and having a bit more time for my social life and some flexibility.

The chipndale costume has less clothes, see the pic in the quote below...

Yeah dude I mean do what works for you. Don't ever try to be what you think other people expect of you, and remove the thought from your head that being into yoga and mental strength in effeminate. It would only be so if you believe it to be. I'm into both of those things and it certainly doesn't make me feel girly. Just like having a career in poker, if you express what you do in a positive way, people will generally respond favorably.

At the end of the day, we didn't pick pro-athlete, we picked poker, or we picked balanced person who plays poker and keeps fit. So do what makes sense for that imo. Sounds like you're doing a good job

I'm not quite sure what you're looking for but I'm happy to post any graph you'd like to see. My sharkscope is unblocked, so you're free to search and filter and look at games w/ rakeback ect (SNE 56% 1st yr, 71% thereafter)

If it's a matter of not having SS or wanting to see redline graphs just tell me what you'd like to see and I can post it. That graph in the OP is all games 2013 (including MTTs) pre-rb as of the date of the post. Mecastyles posted a graph a few days ago of just my SNGs with rakeback and pointed out I broke that x-axis. Woop Woop!

Here's today's video. Topic that's really important imo. I think it holds value for anyone who needs to perform on a regular basis, but honestly it's just important to overall quality of life. I would be really interested to hear feedback on the concept.

For today's freeroll, again $10, I had a spot that made me smile. A guy was sitting out on the bubble and I was chip leader, so I'm happily jamming ATC and a semi-regular in 2nd place is chat tilting hard despite this being the most standard situation in the world. It's actually a profitable situation for him (he's gonna cash 100% and still be able to play HU, albeit from a chip disadvantage.)

Eventually when the BB is still sitting out w/ ~2 BBs and I jam the button, he just decides to call, despite being in 2nd place and holding ~6BBs and being guaranteed to get heads up within an orbit. He didn't have a pair... in fact he wasn't even ahead. Any guesses what hand this player tried to "teach me a lesson with"?

First correct answer $10. Stack sizes are approximate from memory.
