Thats called, a Value Bet! Thats called, a Value Bet!

So me nation and another poker guy name Justin go golfing at the Desert Rose today. You know, test out the new clubs. We ended up golfing for the better part of 6~ hours, had a really good time. Ended up involving getting our gambol on in some golf. But thats not the highlight of the day.

So we had just played the front nine, and were getting a bite to eat before heading out for the back nine. We sit down at the counter, and were just talking over some poker theory while eating.

Well we start talking about PT3 and how ridiculous it is that its been this long to come out, and how they are losing a good market share because of it. While we are talking about it, this woman probably like ~45-50ish, is standing there listening to us. We look up at her, and she says oh i didn't mean to interrupt, i am just listening to what you guys are talking about.

So obviously we are thinking, uhm ok sure, but its pretty pointless.

Anyway I bring up a thread i made in the small-high fr forum a while ago. Basically i raise AJo from UTG, and get a nit cold caller behind me (like 11/9 or something). Flop comes JJ3, and i bet and he raises. Well I was saying I think against a FR nit, is it honestly profitable to continue here. What is a full ring nits honest reraise range there. Well he obv is only playing like 22-TT in this spot, and all pocket pairs that are not 33 would just call the bet. Nation starts to argue that he could be raising with 88 because his hand is likely good at this point (or something like this, i don't precisely remember). I said i only like raising 88 there if you intend on calling a shove/3bet, because flops like that end up getting too much action, and that by not playing it for a c/c you essentially turn your hand into a bluff. He disagrees with me, and i say, well why would you raise 88 on that flop then? (By the way nation was saying the standard line is call i think, he was just saying he COULD raise the flop.). And as i say that the woman listening says

"Thats called a Value Bet!", somewhat proudly. Obv we all turn to her, and are pretty shocked at this statement, to which we are like yeah actually and start laughing. She says she plays on FTP and her name is xxxxx, and then she went into pretty standard fish small talk, but really that was pretty hilarious. Here is her very sad sharkscope graph = (.

Just thought id share that for you. (Oh and wtf nation rapes in golf bets wtf).

That's pretty goddam hilarious actually. Also isn't it insanely nitty to fold with AJ on JJ3.. maybe that's why I'm not at the High Stakes like u..

poker is only but ranges, thinking anything other then that is not correct. (not that you should fold AJ on a JJ3, just saying.)
