Re: The story of "The Home Game" - TL;DR

I know that was a ****ty place to leave you guys, I promise I will get out a few more by tonight at least. I don't have much to do this weekend workwise, and I am going to pass on the lol octogenarianaments in this town tonight so I can focus on this.

Not to spoil anything, but I was a little paranoid that Kendra was up to something so getting jumped wasn't too far off my mind at the moment.

Kendra and the Big Game - Part 2, Volume 2

As I feel something push me forward my first instinct is to turn out and shove who or whatever is attacking me, so I spin a 180 and make this shoving motion and grunted that I'm sure made me look crazy to anyone at the place. I see a coconut drop at my feet and roll towards the street. I turn around and Kendra is about to fall on the ground she is laughing so hard. For those

"It's not funny! I thought I was getting jumped, and you know as well as I do that this area of town is pretty much the setting for Deliverance!"

"You looked like you were in a mosh pit with those moves!"

"Personally I prefer EDM.....but let's get going."

I noticed that the coconut had fallen from a tree hanging over the rundown convenience store and must have rolled down and hit me in the back. The columns holding the roof up were rusted, the windows plastered with banners that were faded from the summer heat. The water was only a few hundred yards away so we go there really quick, I didn't want to be late.

I was hoping that Kendra wasn't the hippie type that didn't shower much and put on Patchouli, but it was apparent she was a boss when it came to rolling a joint. She asked me if I wanted some, and I told her I liked to smoke, but I couldn't before the game because I can be a lightweight and don't want to show up stoned. She was halfway done and asked if I wanted a shotgun, and I didn't want to make her feel uncomfortable, so I obliged. She took a hit, inhaled, and like I have done since I first tried it when I was 16, I put my curved hand up to her mouth to take it in, and in some magic trick she swatted my hand away and blew it straight down my throat while simultaneously started making out with me. I felt relieved, not because of the weed, or that she was making the first move, but that the mysterious tension from both the game and hanging out with her had lifted at the same time. I no longer thought it was a possible mistake to bring her. We were probably going at it for about 5 minutes before we came up for air.

"Well hello there, nice to meet you, my name is Liam," I said jokingly. She laughed, we got in the car and as she got in, I could see a red thong popping out of her jeans - so much tease! She opened up, talking a lot more. I surprisingly didn't feel high at all, but relaxed and ready to play. We got to the bridge, and sure enough, the same bridgetender was there. I had made sure to make this transaction as fast as possible and gave him exact change.

"I have never been here - is this Sanibel?"

"No, this is Boca Grande, it's probably even nicer. This is where rich people go when they don't want to be bothered."

"Oh, I never knew this place existed - are you selling me into sexual slavery?"

"Well if the deal is right, you never know, but I'll probably just keep you for myself."

Thankfully, she found that funny, as I can often cross the line when it comes to certain jokes, and I was not familiar with her past. We get into town and I go to park in the marina. I see Drew waving at me, and as Kendra is getting her stuff, I walk up to him and make sure that her being there was okay. That was one thing I had not talked to Big John about - that I had a +1. I was so into Kendra coming tonight I didn't even ask, and I was concerned they were going to have a problem with it.

"Sure, that's not a problem," Drew said, "Does she by any chance know how to make drinks? We'll pay her well. Our normal bartender is in Europe right now and we couldn't find anyone, they've all gone back home."

He was of course referring that no one here considered this home, they were just vacationing for the Christmas holiday and going back to their other homes tomorrow. I went over and asked her really quick, and she seemed delighted to do so. Thank God, I was worried she would be pissed that me inviting her here would turn out to be work.

We get onto the boat, and Kendra was not expecting to go on a boat tonight. She was wide eyed and clearly in awe of the size and beauty of the place. We sit down and there's seven of us at the table, and they introduce themselves to me. I know some of them are new, and I remember one of them introducing themselves with the last name of Bush. They were all dressed the same though - pastel polos, Lacoste khakis, and varying colors of topsiders. It was warm that night, even for the middle of winter in Southwest Florida, and they opened the windows which gave us a great crossbreeze.

Kendra came over and put her hands on my shoulders and whispered to me,

"They have Louis XIV here, I have only heard of it, and there's like 5 bottles in the back! This place is sick."

She proceeded to ask what everyone wanted, and instead of looking like the douche that drank the most expensive bottle in the place, I asked for Armagnac.

"Sure, we have 3 bottles of it, which one do you prefer?"

"Chateau de Laubade if you have it."

"Excellent choice - did you live in Europe? I have never seen an American drink that before."

"My mom grew up there, she introduced me to it."

Kendra went searching for the bottle, and we all bought in for 10,000. Tonight was going to be a mix of PLO, PLO8, or NL each orbit. This was working out perfectly, because I knew that the guys preferred to play the game uninterrupted, and Kendra was holding that bar down like a boss.

"Blinds please, 25 and 50." The dealer, who I forgot was even at the table, gestured towards me.

Every episode is better. This reminded me of my home game scene in the southeast 10 years ago until you had recurring 10k buy-in games.

Re: The story of "The Home Game" - TL;DR

Kendra and the Big Game - Part 2, Volume 3

As the dealer dealt out 4 cards, the first round was PLO, which we were playing with the rock again. I nit up the first few orbits, and pick up 6789 in the CO on the second round of PLO with 9675 behind. Drew opens to 350 from a 9300 stack, and it folds to me and I make it 1100 to go. It folds around to Drew, and he throws out 2200 and says "minraise" simultaneously. I am obviously not folding getting a great price, even though it wasn't a real minraise. The dealer turns over 592 European style, I'm not sure why he decided to change this time around, but it definitely felt twice as long to wait for the flop. Drew led out for 1200 and I perceived this as a c-bet with aces or kings. If I call and a high card hits the turn, Drew can shove on me and I have to call off knowing I am behind but getting about the right price. He might also shut down getting flatted on such a dry flop, putting me on 99xx. With such an awkward spot with stack sizes, I end up moving in effectively for 7475. I wasn't sure if I wanted a snap call because I knew against his range we were flipping and honestly wanted to win it right there.

"Show me a 9 and I'll fold" He said. I knew he wasn't needling me, I think he honestly thought if I showed him a 9 he would put me on top set and he would fold. I do the fake check back to see if I can show him a 9, and tell him I might be able to accommodate his needs. He asks again after about 30 seconds, and I look for the 9, show it to him, and he says "nice hand," and tosses his hand into the muck. I had half a glass of Armagnac left and I downed it before I finished stacking the pot. That brandy burn made me feel a little energized and I was ready to go to war.

About an hour later in a NL orbit, where the button posted a $100 ante, I pick up AJ OTB and it gets raised to 350 by a guy named Ames with a stack of 10500ish, he was from Virginia and was in real estate in the DC area. I flat, as does the BB who was at about 8500 and we go 3 way to a flop of K210. The BB leads out for 850, and Ames flats, as do I. We see a turn of 7 and both players snap check. I bet out 2150, and before I even top the stack of black with 6 green chips, the BB minraises me, leaving about 3000 behind. Ames tanks for about 5 minutes, and during this time, a movie scene from The Professional pops into my head of Gary Oldman taking his special pills from his metal case, cracking one in his mouth, and there is a silence before the storm of gunshots that mows the guy's family down. There was a calm before the storm, and this tanking time was that calm. I felt like Gary Oldman, shotgun loaded, ready to go, all I needed was some Mozart. Ames folds and wait 5 seconds, load the barrel up, and put in two and half stacks of black in with some greens sprinkled on top, putting him all in. He snaps off with 910 for a flopped pair and flush draw, and turned flush drawing dead. The dealer turned and burned the card facing down as a joke, and Ames reaches over and turns over the 10. That put him on serious tilt as he folded top two and would have filled up.

Kendra in the meantime is keeping the game fully lubed with drinks. After the Armagnac, I switched over to rum as they had a sick collection of Havana Club and other Cuban rums that are illegal to sell in the US. I get to have a true Cuba Libre and Kendra makes herself something fruity with Malibu and fruit juice. She came over and whispered to me, "Is that guy okay?"

"Yeah he'll be fine. He just got into a situation that every poker player hates."

Kendra goes over to him and gets a little touchy feely with him, and it seems to waken his mood a little bit. She is really winning over the group and it was great for the game, and I gained a lot of respect from someone I hadn't known well to begin with. About halfway through the game we took a break to go smoke cigars and whatnot on the sundeck, and she came over to me and asked, "So who is winning so far?"

"Well, I am up about 12000, Diplomat Dale (who ended up being the BB and had gotten the Cuban rum from his travels) is down 10,000, most everyone else is up or down 5000."

"I just thought it was odd that no one has been knocked out yet. Don't the stakes go up and there is an eventual winner?"

"This is not a tournament dear......"

Oh boy.....Kendra has no idea that the chips are actually worth their face value. She thinks this is like bar poker back at the place she works. She thought it was for a few hundred bucks at most.

"Don't **** with me Liam. That's just an insane amount of money to play poker for. Are you crazy?"

"Yes, why else would I play this game? It will make you want to jump off this boat and never surface. It will also make you feel like you are on top of the world."

The moon was almost full in the clear sky, and the view was amazing. She liked rubbing my head, which was very relaxing and turning me on at the same time. We went back downstairs and I immediately take a beat getting quartered in PLO8 with a 23 low and Kings full over Aces full and the same low. Getting quartered in PLO8 vs O8 is much more brutal, because it is usually for a much larger portion of your stack. I was still up 10K and as the night came to a close, we played the last few orbits all NL. One of the last hands I was in the BB and UTG just shoves for @6000. I wait for the sweat as it folds around to me and I look at AQ.

"Did you look at your hand?" I ask him.

"Honestly, I saw one card. I've been picking up **** all night. I just want to double up or go home."

I couldn't let the stakes make me not push an edge. He obviously saw an ace.

"Call."

Wayne (the guy's name), flips over A5 and being a PLO player, I'll take the 70 percent equity any day. The flop came down Q103, giving me a little sweat. An A hits the turn, and a 3 on the river. He thought it was a chop at first, but as the dealer pushed up the AQ10 for the winning 5 cards, he realized his fate. I shake his hand and tell him I liked the way he moved, and he chuckled and walked down the galley and up the stairs to the deck.

We called it a night after that, and as we sat there counting chips, Kendra asked anyone else if they wanted in apertif - she was good! She came over to give me one more drink, and saw me counting the chips up.

"How many chips do you have?" She said.

"I have about 25900 in chips."

"So how much are those worth?"

"Well I am up 15,900, so I get half of that - Seven thousand, nine hundred and fifty dollars, and zero cents. I have an arrangement with a friend."

"Don't be a smart aleck. I don't understand, you didn't bring that money with you."

"It's complicated, I'll explain in the car."

I cash out, and Drew holds the 7950 for Big John. He hands me four 2K wraps and I give him a 50. I give Kendra 150 for her time, and Drew gave her 500 for her time. She reluctantly accepts, and gets tipped out another 300 from the other guys. She is walking out with over a grand herself, and she looks like a child at Disney. I say my goodbyes to the good old boys, and they say they will call me when the group is back in town.

"This is what I make in two weeks!" She exclaimed.

"Do you believe me now?" as I motion to swat her across the face with the stacks.

I look at my phone - it's only 1045.....

No pics unfortunately, it was really quick and unexpected. I am hoping to get my broken hard drive data extracted soon to get some pictures up on here.

Re: The story of "The Home Game" - TL;DR

Kendra and The Big Game - After Hours

We get in the car, and I feel amazing - definitely the best cash session in my life, and now I am in a beautiful place with a beautiful woman who just had the best bartending session in her life. We go down the street to the main town, which is dead by 10pm, so we are the only ones walking around. She wanted to smoke really quick, but I didn't want to do it at the docks. We go to a backroad and she lights it up and takes a few hits, and gets quickly back in the car. She must have put more perfume on, as that perfume wafted in the car and was turning me on. I wanted this to continue to be a great night, so I figured a trip to the beach to celebrate would be a great idea.

I get on the main road to head north out of Boca Grande and I see an SUV behind me gaining speed. I see it is a late model Explorer, no other than the Boca Grand Police. They have one guy patrolling at night and he has to find me. I have been pulled over probably two dozen times in my life, but all I think of is policing for profit in Tennessee and immediately losing every dime I made to local cops. He lights me up pretty fast and I pull over next to the golf cart road that runs parallel.

"How're you doin' tonight?", said the officer, "where are you coming from?"

"We had an event down here at the docks, just some service work."

"Oh at the docks, were you helping out at Drew's party?"

"Yes, she was bartending, I stayed for the party."

"That's a great game. I wish I could afford a game like that."

"I do too, I have a friend put me in as a favor. I could never afford stakes like that."

"Well the reason I pulled you over was you were parked suspiciously down one of the beach access points. I was just checking up on who comes on and off the island, that's all. Have a good evening and drive safe."

That was the fastest and easiest police stop I have ever been through, thank god. I go off the island, head back north and into town. I know all the liquor stores are closed, so I go to the closest bar, a nightclub that also is a package store. I happen to know the bartender, we used to have a small cash game back there years ago, and he would always ask me my opinion on hands he played at the cardroom. On the ride, I explained what staking was, who these people were, and that this was not normal at all for me.

"So this is how you make money?"

"Yes, playing, running games, this is my life now."

"Can I have one of those Vicodin?"

"Sure," as I unlock the glove box and get them. I get a little concerned because I dated an opiate addict 6 years before and it was a nightmare. She seems completely composed though, so I brush it off as paranoia.

So we go in, but not before I lock the money in a box I have in the trunk. We pay the cover, go in, and the place is packed with a DJ. Terrible place to spend quality time with Kendra, so I ask her what her favorite alcohol is - Vodka. Shocking. I get a bottle of Smirnoff to go, order a group of people in the front of the bar shots, and head on my way up to the beach. I decide to stop in the Circle K to get a 6 pack of beer and juice, and we go to one of the three beaches in the town. It was across a bridge from the mainland, so it was nice and secluded, and she was still in shock from the night so far. Hell, I was still in shock. What I was proud of myself for was distancing myself from the amount of money I was playing for, and making the right decisions. It felt like the 5-5 PLO game or the 2/5 NL game I played at the casinos around here. After about 10 minutes, we get to the park at the beach, and I drive around back to the boat landing area. We walk across to the beach and this is where I realize Kendra has brought a backpack all set up for a beach night out. A blanket, pillows, cooler, you name it, she brought it. I laid down and popped a vicodin - my head was killing me and my neck was sore from sitting for hours and not taking proper breaks. I laid down and my eyes were a camera to the sky, staring at all the stars left to right in a panoramic motion.

I open one of the Jai Alai I bought at the store, probably my favorite IPA of all time. As I light a cigarette and continue staring, I can hear her lighting up and finishing the rest of the joint. I look over and see that bright red thong even in the moonlight and smile, and she asks why I'm smiling.

"What is there not to smile about? This evening has been amazing so far. We're here at the beach, and I get to spend time with you."

"Well here's the last of what I rolled if you want it."

I take one more puff, and I was good for a while. I go back to my viewing of the sky and am just focused on blinking lights, moving stars, but I can hear her in the background rustling around and moving things. As I am staring up, my view suddenly gets blocked by her with just a thong on, and her shirt has come off too with just a matching bra covering her. She kneels over me, straddling me and my view of the sky is gone, but has gotten better. She leans down to start making out with me, and at the same time, she is reaching down to unbutton my shorts. After what seems to be an eternity, she gets up, and books it for the water, crashing right into the small waves of the Gulf of Mexico. I knew that water had to be a little chilly but **** it, am I not going to chase her into the water?

I get up, double check that I dont have my phone, keys, cigs, on me. Yep! Just my boxers. I go running towards the water and she is in waist deep, and somewhere around ankle deep I managed to trip and eat salt water face first. I come back up and managed to pick her up and throw her in completely, as she is getting up, I swim around and grab for her thong, and I get a handful of bare ass. I come up and she is smiling.

"Looking for this?" She said waving the thong around with her finger.

She leans back and we try to get it on right there in the water. The problem is every wave that comes by is working against us, so after about 5 minutes, We're both getting frustrated by having to stop and start again. I decide we should get out of the water and up on the lifeguard chair, which is a huge lookout balcony. That ends up working out pretty well, and I'm sure her voice projected a quarter mile down that beach, and I was a little paranoid as a result. I have no change of clothes and the wind is making me shiver even though it's still warm out. There is a shower there and she magically has two towels, and changes right there.

"I wasn't exactly prepared to **** at the beach," I proclaim.

"We live at the beach in Florida, I always have a change of clothes and a towel in the car."

As I'm trying to figure out what to do with my clothing situation, I towel off, put just my shorts on commando, and go shirtless into the car. I realized during the beach fun I left 2000 in my wallet and double check that it is there, sure enough it is. We head back to my house, and I invite her in to hang out.

"Sure, but I'm hungry as ****!"

****, we hadn't even had dinner, and I played that game on just alcohol and vicodin. In all this fun, I guess I hadn't thought about food. I suddenly realized how starving I was. I ask her if Waffle House is okay, as it's one of the only places open around here.

"I LOVE Waffle House!"

After a real shower with soap, we drive over, and I order the usual, and she gets a waffle with a special double order of hash browns with everything in it - chili, jalapenos, gravy, etc. We bring it home and sit on my bed scarfing it down.

"Oh you have PS4?" Staring at my TV, she turns it on and pops in GTA 5. I get the controller and show her how to play, and she literally slaps me on the wrist and takes it. She is a stone cold killer in this game, and about 10 times better than I am. I start dozing off watching her play, and wake up around 3pm the next day and she's gone - no text, no sign of her. I wondered where she went, but before I got a chance to figure out, Josh calls me about going to play tonight.

Re: The story of "The Home Game" - TL;DR

Josh Goes FTP Pro

Josh is telling me on the phone all the **** he got from his girlfriend and parents for Christmas, and he wanted to go to Hard Rock. I tell him to come over in a couple hours, and I wake up and walk outside. ****, some cold front came through with rain so its only in the mid-60s and dreary. It was almost like yesterday was a dream with the weather, Kendra, and the huge win. I go to pick up the 8k in the trunk of my car, come back inside, and get a call from Big Mike. He's telling me that he has no power at his house and if I can pay it and he will give it to me on Thursday. Jesus ****ing Christ, he probably didn't get paid out because he donked off his tips or just didn't get paid out because he was so buried at Vito's game. Meanwhile, Josh was getting more and more benefits from the game, which I was a little salty about, but he was only 20, and Vito saw him as his prodigy. I honestly didn't think the game ran that well, but Josh said he made 1k last night, so he was ready to play. His job was to run the book, deal, and make sure any other dealers didn't steal.

In the meantime, I texted Kendra to see where she was and what was up. She was fairly short but nice, and I told her she should have stayed last night. She said that she would explain why she didn't, and that it was complicated. Normally complicated means something else is up, and I figured it was too good to be true. I honestly wasn't focused on it, I wanted to ride the momentum of last night, not Kendra at the moment.

So Josh rolls up in his old Honda, and I get ready to hop in and he tells me the transmission's about to blow. We take my car and are backing out of the driveway when I go to check my center console and turn the dome light on. I see Josh in the light, and he is fully decked out in Full Tilt gear - hoodie, sweatpants, and backwards hat.

"Where the hell did you get that ****?" I ask, very concerned.

"Katie got it for me for Christmas, do you like it?"

"You are going to get laughed out of the poker room, I can't be seen with you like that. Unless you play 5/10 or PLO, you are going to look like a ****ing idiot."

"I am going to play 5/10, its running, I checked Bravo."

"Ok buddy....maybe I will play too."

Josh was too young for the pre-Black Friday days. He watched too many reruns of the WSOP with everyone decked out in FT and PS gear, and probably asked for it from Katie. We ride up to Hard Rock and discuss the games, how German and Mike are slipping, and he says the game at Vito's is doing well.

"How well exactly?"

"Well he gave me a watch for running the games. It's no Rolex, but I think it looks nice." He proceeds to roll back his hoodie sleeve and a stainless Breitling Chronomat with gold inlay is on his wrist. I pull over to check it out and make sure it's real.

"Vito gave you this watch for just running a good game?"

"Yeah, it's gotta be worth at least a grand."

"Do you have the box and everything that it came with?"

He nodded.

"That watch starts at 5 grand, and can go into the five figures easily, I would say retail on that watch is 7-8000."

He seemed shocked, but looked it up, and a similar model sure enough was $7199 online. I told him to be careful with it because it was worth way more than his car was. As I am saying that, a call comes over my bluetooth in the car, and it's Kendra. She sounds introverted and shy, and doesn't know she's on bluetooth in my car.

"Hey, what's up?"

"Sorry about last night, I couldn't stay all night. I really wanted to."

"So why didn't you?" My heart was racing a little bit.

"Well, you aren't going to like this, but......I still live with my ex. He is very controlling and I don't want there to be a problem."

"You told me you lived with your parents, so that is a lie?"

"Yes, I didn't want to scare you off."

"Well, from my experience, relationships like this don't start off well. I'm not in the business of messing around with someone who may or may not be interested in someone else or go back to them once they are done having fun. As far as I'm concerned, last night was work and we can leave it at that."

"Let me show you I want more."

"Okay, then don't tell me, show me. Show me by coming and talking to me about this to my face."

"I will, I'll come over now if you want."

"Too late, I'm almost to Hard Rock. It'll have to wait because I'll be here for a while." Click.

Josh gave me this WTF look, and I explained who she was and what happened last night. I told him not to tell anyone, because if Mike, German, or anyone else knew, they might hold off paying me what they owe. We rolled into the HR garage and into the poker room. I told him he would be ridiculed wearing that unless he played high stakes or pretended to be European. He chose the former and got on the wait list for 5/10, and I got on the 5-5 game.

"Are you sponsored?" The brush asks.

"Yes."

He was definitely getting a lot of attention from the room, so I went outside to smoke and wait for my name to be called.

"Liam for 5-5, Liam....for 5-5"

I buy in for 1k and head to the table.

when I suggested to write a poker book I didn't mean to write a strategy book. I meant one full of stories.

and you're lucky that kendra girl got to bartend at that rich plo game, because she would have been bored as hell watching you play.

When you mentioned the book, I thought the same thing. I would be happy to send some of this stuff to someone who might be more attune to gaming or poker story publishing. I could send this to a local person (my mom was in the publishing business), you mentioned there was someone on here that does it, or did I misread that?

In retrospect, Kendra probably would have been bored after 30 minutes had she not had that bartending gig there.

Sorry, I am barely keeping my eyes open so I must've mixed the two of you up, thinking you were the same person.

To answer your question about photographic memory, yes I do believe I have one. When I recollect the past I remember what boards looked like, how the turn card was slanted slightly, just stuff you would remember only if you could see a picture of it. I just hope it never goes away.

Josh Goes FTP Pro - Part 2

Walking past the glass and onto table 39 was a somewhat normal routine for me. The area was open and the glass was only 6 feet high, but it feels like a whole other room back there. I sit down in seat 3 with my back to the other tables in the area. I get my card swiped in, and as I unrack the 900 in green and 100 in red, I think back to 24 hours ago when the greens were used as blinds, and not much more. I know a lot of people who have problems moving up and down stakes and not respecting the value of money, but to me, I felt right at home and this is where I belonged. Chinese Mike was in seat 1, there were a couple Eastern Europeans on the other side of the table, and two short stackers to my direct left. This was a 9-handed table, and the problem with full ring PLO is it can become even nittier than NL given the right people.

After about an orbit I am in the SB with QJ98 and make it 40 to go with 940 behind. BTN calls and we are heads up. The dealer turns over 67A. I lead out for 65 and he thinks for a bit, and calls. As the 10 hits the turn, I gamble with the nuts for 170, and he raises pot to essentially put me all in (These numbers are approximate, I can't remember every bet). I go all in, and BTN turns over AAK2. A nice 2 hits the river, and I fade a ton of outs to double up. I tried to remind myself of the dangers of playing non-nutted draws as perceived equity in a full ring game.

Right after that hand, I see Josh sitting down with the others at the 5/10 game - it is 5 handed. I notice a good tourney pro, two Middle Eastern guys and and older bearded guy take their seats, and they don't seem to take Josh seriously. Josh bought it for 1500, and after one orbit at my game, he was down to 700. Another orbit goes by, and he is down to 450. I go out to smoke, and he walks out to talk to me.

"I'm busto at 5/10, I'm going to play 2/5, I think I'll do better there. I just can't bluff those guys off a hand, they always call.

"Don't try to bluff those guys, they are there to have fun, not make tough decisions. It's a tougher decision for them to fold than it is to call. Just be careful and don't chase your losses." I tell him in a sort of fatherly tone.

He walks back out to get on the 2/5 list, and I go back in to play before the blinds get to me. Immediately UTG I pick up offsuit ****ty Aces. I raise to 40 and MP 3-bets to 150. BTN calls and I make it 650. I normally will flat good Aces out of position to a 3-bet in a multiway pot, but bad Aces make my chips go in the middle faster. MP is sitting there tanking, and while I am trying to focus, I get a tap on the shoulder. I turn around and its Kendra, and I am trying to not acknowledge her presence mostly because of the big pot, but swing my chair around anyway.

"Hey, you said you wanted to talk to me in person, so I came here to talk to you."

"You drove all the way here?"

"Yes, I want to be straightforward with you from now on."

I here the dealer talking to me, and I turn around and the pot is getting pushed my way and I flip the dealer 5. I stack the 2100 or so neatly and walk with her to the smoking area.

"Before we talk, do you mind if I have one of your Vicodin?"

"Sure, if it will get you to talk. If this is what you brought me out here for, I have more important things to do."

"No its not. I wanted to tell you before yesterday, but I didn't know how to say it without scaring you away. I live with my ex-boyfriend - I moved down here from North Carolina and we met on the job. He turned out to be an abusive drunk, and he got fired from the bar. I had just moved in with him, and he needed money to live on, and I needed a place to live. I didn't have another option, I have no family and not many friends down here. Yesterday was probably the greatest day in my life. He would kill me if he knew I was out with you last night. He thinks I was with a girlfriend last night and tonight I didn't even give him an excuse. I sleep on the couch so I don't have to be near him."

It all seemed very genuine, and it was one of the few stories I could excuse her behavior for considering the situation. Living in Florida for 10+ years, I had seen this white trash behavior that I had never experienced before. It's one thing to be lazy and just not do much in life. It's another to be an abusive addict and ruin someone else's life in the process. My annoyed state turned to more of anger towards the ex boyfriend.

"Okay, I understand, I'm sorry to hear that. I can't believe someone would self-destruct so bad that they would use you like this. Then again, this is Florida, so nothing surprises me anymore. Why don't we go somewhere and discuss this a little more?"

She started crying - not just a little bit, but just straight out sobbing and bringing a lot of attention in the smoking area. She wouldn't go back in with tears and her makeup everywhere. Josh walks outside to smoke a cigarette and sees me with her face buried in my shirt. I tell him to get a floor out here so that I can give them my card and pick up my chips. I throw them a few redbirds for the favor. I tell Josh I'll be back in a bit, and walk out of the smoking area and towards the parking garage......

I took Vicodin from 2007-2012 for my motorcycle accident. I stopped filling the scripts in 2013, and had no withdrawals due to the low dose I am guessing. I went back about 18 months later and figured if it kills my back pain, it can't be that bad. Definitely makes one lethargic though.

Josh goes FTP Pro - Part Three

As we walk out to the garage and sit in my car, she seems to lighten up a bit. Part of my reason for giving her that pill is painkillers like this can make someone be more talkative - I wanted to hear the whole story. She was originally from upstate New York and moved down here because there were no opportunities in her town. She got the job bartending site unseen, and didn't realize she was going to make so little in tips. Living in seasonal housing during the summer, she had nowhere to go come the holidays (our tourist season is Thanksgiving to Easter where rent prices can triple), so her fellow bartender Keith offered her his place. It started out romantic at first, but got bad as he just got drunk every night at the bar and was hitting on girls, and finally got fired. He basically kept her prisoner because she had nowhere to go, and he didn't have a license. She said she was afraid to go back there tonight. This was some real trailer trash ****.

"Do you have that $1000 with you?"

"Yes, the rest of my money is in the bank."

"Okay, let me talk to Josh, and we will figure something out."

She was calm at this point, and we walk in and she seems much happier. Josh had run up his 1k buyin to 2600, actually up $100 at the time. I tell him what's going on, and he is very understanding of the situation and wants to help. I have a plan and give my old roommate a call. He ended up renting a duplex in a decent neighborhood and was looking for a roommate. I asked her if she was okay with living with another guy, and she was sort of hesitant.

"You mean living with you?"

"No, my old roommate. He had this problem but he is recovered now."

"Oh....well okay....." She seemed disappointed.

"As much as I would love to have you at my place, it's my sister's, and I can't make that call right now. I count on moving soon, so that could be in the near future. Is that okay with you?"

"Sure, I just want to learn how to play poker. Will you teach me? I see your friend has all that poker stuff on, does he work for them?"

"No, its a long story about how he got that. And yes, of course I will. We can do that on your days off."

Josh cashes out and we leave with me in her car, and Josh drives my car, which I worry about because he loves to drive fast and isn't exactly an expert with a stick. I drive her car because she is still somewhat emotional and is asking a million questions. I knew we had to get her stuff out without him knowing, and asked her if he was at the house. She said she didn't think so, and he was partying with some friends at a garage. We leave my car at my place, and head over to hers. It's empty, so we go in and grab her stuff and start loading her trunk. She had a storage box full of thongs, it had to be like 150 of them. As we finish loading the trunk, a jacked up F-350 diesel comes rolling towards the trailer.

Now I had the option of staying there and finding out who it was, but I didn't know if there was 1 or 6 people in that truck, unarmed, or all loaded up with shotguns. We get in the car and I speed off with Josh in the back. This is a fully loaded Altima, I should be able to outrun these guys. I see the truck spin around and come back. Well ****, I hope this thing still has some gas. I check the gauge and it is 90 miles till empty, that should be enough. I roll onto the main road and head south towards my house. I get caught up at a red light, and the police are very strict around here. I slowly check around to see if there are cops and roll through the light. Meanwhile, the truck doesn't stop at all - whoever in there isn't happy. I get an idea, and start cruising to the next town.

The town east of there had a bunch of old developments that were never built and have a maze of empty roads. They were run down and not marked, but I knew them pretty well from my days of racing my Mustang with the local guys. I turn into one of the huge developments and make a few turns, a long straight run, and after a mile I stop. I looked in my rear view and could see lights - not on this road, but a few roads over. They were offroad lights and they were using them to find us. It ended up helping me know where they were, and I finally get to the other edge of the development where I can see the lights of the main road. I finally find one of the other ways out, and we are free of what were most likely drunk rednecks looking for a fight, or worse.

"Do you know who those people are?"

"I don't know his name, but he picks up Keith and they go out a lot. I'm usually at work so I don't pay any attention."

"You can't trust a lot of people down here, they have no values. You really have to get to know someone." I turned to Josh. "I'm sorry Josh, I wasn't expected to get chased by Billy Bob and his crew."

Josh laughed, and we took the low road back to town and to my place. He pulled my car out and I backed her car in with mine behind it so her car couldn't be seen from the road. Josh headed out to go see Katie, and here we sat again, Kendra and I, in the same place, 24 hours later. With nothing to eat, I made some chicken fingers and she was sitting back watching TV. After eating, I jumped in the shower and sure enough she joined me.

I had parked that way for two reasons; first, for her own safety, and second, I wanted to make sure she didn't disappear on me again. She fell asleep with herself locked onto me, and I passed out while trying to listen for a diesel truck to roll down my street. I have no idea how I got myself into this mess, but I was in it neck deep now.

Re: The story of "The Home Game" - TL;DR

The Disappearing Act

The next day, I gave my old roommate a call, told him about the situation, and he was very friendly about it. He didn't even make her pay until the middle of the month. I moved Kendra in and made her feel like she had a home. I even bought her a new bed with Victoria Secret sheets and blanket - I was such a ****ing sucker. Maybe it was just from her showing me her VS thong collection that made me want her to match. Maybe I distanced myself from the value of money at the time due to the success I have having both on the felt and during the games. The first night she stayed there, she refused to go to sleep without me in there. It continued the rest of the week.

That Tuesday I got a call from Mike. He had talked to Tampa John and Bookie, and they said they had seen German at the high limit BJ tables with about 1200 in black in front of him. He was scared that German had blown the entire 40K he had been given for the football pools. They kept it to themselves because telling people would have no positive effect, and they would just come looking for him at his house which would ruin our game. Mike was concerned about the near future, as Superbowl ran around, people would come around the house looking for their money. We had no way to prove that we had nothing to do with the German's heist. As a result, we beefed up security at the house and did not know what we should expect walking into German's Thursday evening. Derek, who usually carried when he was around was to stand as a lookout while I was dealing.

I strolled into German's around 530 with a case of Coors and found just his wife sitting there making some kind of pasta.

"Where's German?" I ask in a curious tone.

"He's down at the South County Moose Lodge. There's an event and he's trying to start a charity game going."

What the **** was German doing trying to get a charity game going? He was a ****ing charity case. That Moose Lodge was an old place that had $20 tournaments I had played years ago for fun. I decided to give it a call. They said they had no charity events going on tonight, just people at the bar.

"Is there a guy with a German accent at that bar?"

"Yes, do you want to talk to him?"

"No thanks, have a good night."

So either his wife is lying and knows, or German just lied to her. Either way, this was not a good situation. Everyone comes in and Paper Route, Nice Shoes, Bookie, Tampa John, Swede, Drunk Jim, we had a packed house. Mike had brought his wife with him to make sure all the food was setup and to help out. As the night went on, Derek was slowing getting more and more wasted, and we tried to get him to stop by coming in and dealing. Derek is the best dealer there is, and he was dealing 4 card flops, burning prematurely, he was done. We got him out of the box and he was mad about something. Mike had his wife take away his keys and he passed out for a bit.

Around 930, he suddenly wakes up and says he wants to go home, who has his keys. Mike and Bookie had gone to the store for a beer run, so I am here alone and I can't stop the game or leave the table over one drunk person. About 5 minutes later, I hear some arguing and screaming, and suddenly Derek runs through the house with Glock in hand and leaves out the front door. I look out to the porch and Mike's wife is okay, but she is sobbing. Literally two minutes later, Mike and Bookie come and and ask what the hell is going on, and the game comes to a standstill. It turns out Derek threatened Mike's wife if she didn't give him his keys. As Mike tries to talk to his wife, everyone wants to cash out - Derek killed the ****ing game. We try to get people to stay and tell them he's gone and all is good, but there's like three people that still want to play. Mike is pissed, German is MIA, and we made just a couple hundred tonight. All it takes is one ****ed up thing to happen and suddenly a thousand dollar a week game gets cut down to 200.

As we are cleaning up, a fight breaks out between Mike and German's wife. She wants the money for the night plus the money owed from the past few weeks. Mike says that her husband put the game in jeopardy and he only has himself to blame. She's raging on and Bookie, Swede, and I are watching, knowing that this game was going down the tubes. We had to move, and fast. Mike stopped arguing and called up Vito, who had just left the game, and explained what happened. They make a really quick agreement for the same $450, and suddenly the German's house is useless. Bookie backs his truck up with a trailer we borrowed from Vito down the road, and we load the chips, chairs, table, and everything down to Vito's. Why didn't we think of this earlier? Now German can sit on his ass and explain to his wife why he's a failure, or maybe they are both in on it, either way we don't care.

After this is all done, I approach Mike and his wife and explain that they have a family, and need to tend to family life and all that good stuff.

"Have you considered getting out of this business completely?"

"I've thought about it, but the money is too good."

"Is it too good? How much money have you made this month?

"Not enough this month, but I mean in general."

"Do you have a price in mind that you would walk away from this place for good?"

"Sure, hit me with a number."

"5000, cash here and now, and I get your whole player list. Your debt is gone to me, and I take on the contract with Vito."

"Try 20,000. This thing is a money machine."

"This game is weak, it runs on credit, its like the Great Depression all over again. If this were a legit business it might only be valued on the tangible assets, which is about 1200."

"It's not even close Liam, come to me when you have a real offer to make."

"I will make a real offer when you have a game that is not buried up to its eyeballs in debt."

With that, we kept the same deal, but now at Vito's. A nicer place, a bigger ass to deal with, but overall a better venue. By 1130, I was ready to go get some food. On the way home, Tim calls me and asks if he can come up to play. I tell him what happened, and says he is up for some food too. I want to go see Kendra and sort of surprise her as she figured I was getting out late. The bar she works at let's you bring your own food, so we get two pepperoni pizzas because Tim is a fat **** and head over to the bar. As we are leaving the parking lot of the Papa Johns, I get a text from Kendra.

"Keith just came in here, and there's no manager here."
