I haven't seen anything that says exactly what type of guns he had, but there were reports that said he had like 8-10 assault rifles. But yeah, most likely.

I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to firearms, but from watching the videos, the gunshots don't sound like your typical "over the counter" type guns, either. So who knows.

AZ/Nevada/Texas all have legislation that makes it a little bit easier to own fully automatic weapons. It's definitely possible that this dude had acquired one at some point but I don't have all the details.

ISIS just claimed responsibility for the shooting, there's no evidence to back that claim up though.

I realize this comment may be politarding this thread, but **** me with people insisting having access to semi/fully automatic weapons. I hate guns, but I get it that people want them. But shooting deer or stopping an intruder doesn't need these types of weapons.

They are legal in many jurisdictions, mine most recently provided access to them, but the accessibility and utilization of the for nefarious purposes is actually pretty limited.

Sammy agrees with you about the gun law, but that doesn't necessarily prevent these things from happening. We have very strict gun laws in Scandinavia, but a crazy person still shot and killed ~80 people in the Utøya massacre 2011. Stricter gun laws will without a doubt prevent lots of killings, but in situations where a crazy person/terrorist wants to do stuff like this, he will always be able to get weapons legal or not.

I never fired a real gun in my life, but that sounded like full auto. The first burst was 10 seconds with about 6 shots per second. I don't think you can do that so consistently with a semi auto and just your trigger finger. They say there are ways to convert a semi auto to full auto though.

Unfortunately we have flooded the market again with high-powered automatic firearms (not fully automatic, but automatic nonetheless). It would take literal decades after enacting new legislation limiting purchase of these weapons to take effect.

It's pretty easy to buy full-auto weapons in both Denmark and Germany illegally, if you really wanted to. So ofc it's even easier to get them in the US.

Wrong.

If you're in Texas you can purchase them if you're not a loony and have the proper paperwork, but they're very expensive.

Nevada/AZ make it easier to acquire license to do so but also very, very expensive.

If you want them privately you can only own them in the southwest generally.

In my state the only way to acquire them would be for Class 3 usage, which is not private ownership, and requires both an FFA and Class 3 license, and all weapons must be available for purchase by LE/Military I believe.

Re: *** Stay Fed and Pay Your Taxes in October LC/NC NSFW ***

The regulation of machine guns in the US has been so stringent since the 1980's that 99% of weapons have been in the hands of collectors or dealers. The transferable ones are very, very expensive. The black market does not have many fully automatic weapons on it, and you can look up the handful of examples of crimes committed using them very easily.

It's a short list.

I'm talking about buying illegally. Where do you think all the gangs get their weapons? It's very easy to buy them if you really want to. I could have a full-auto AK-47 in days, if I wanted to.

Re: *** Stay Fed and Pay Your Taxes in October LC/NC NSFW ***

The supply of fully automatic weapons available has been drying up steadily since 1934, Sammy. It's not even CLOSE to "easy" to purchase them. I promise you.

"Assault Weapons
Banning so called assault weapons makes little sense. Assault weapons by definition are weapons with selective fire rates including fully automatic fire – machine guns. Machine guns were banned in the US in 1934. Military type arms sold in the US today are semi-automatic only, meaning you get one shot for each trigger pull. These weapons barely register in homicide statistics at all. They look good in the arms of politicians though. In 2005, 75% of the 10,100 homicides committed using firearms in the United States were committed using handguns, compared to 4% with rifles, 5% with shotguns, and the rest with a type of firearm not specified. Assault weapons are so rarely used they don’t qualify for a separate category.

Agree it doesn't stop it, but it helps.

Australia is a great example of what stricter gun laws can do.

From 1979-1996 - 13 mass shootings

1996 - strict gun laws come in

1996 to today - no mass shootings

Do you buy guns in Denmark often? It is easy to get them here.
