Going on the Shinkansen? If you order early enough, foreigners can get a first class 7 day pass for about $350. Totally worth it.

Travel tickets provided. Mostly flights but train from Tokyo to Kyoto, no idea which one. Any BBV survival/degen advice? Never been there. Know how to do the business card thing and how to eat with chopsticks, but that's about it, lol

I'm guessing that most of what's polite in HK is polite in Tokyo.

Add -san to everyone's name. Guys you usually call by their last name-san and girls by their first name-san, though that seems to be flexible (or subject to complex rules I've never figured out.)

If I give them just my first name when introduced, they often call me Mr. first name. Out of idle curiosity, I'm wondering if they'll call you Herr first name. Morph probably knows.
