Do you have other vices? I do that I still indulge. I. Think most people who get really into working out as adults
A. Weren't fit/into competitive sports as a youth and are making up for it to themselves.
B. Have another vice and they are using working out to constantly to avoid
I think many fall into B. I was a college athlete who sort of hated needing to stay fit and then I rebelled and have had to reset a relationship with fitness and working out
