How do you call a workday that lies e.g. between a holiday and the weekend such that if you take the day off you have a larger chunk of work-free days available to you?

Most of our few holidays are on Mondays, but we get Thurs and Friday off for Thanksgiving. If 4th of July or Christmas falls on Tue or Thurs then we usually get the intervening Mon or Fri off as well. If it's Wed then we're out of luck. 'Course you Euros get all of Christmas week off and more.
