lol it's an amount small enough to not affect most players' rolls but a considerable amount to mine.

well ofc you gotta run good to make the money in any poker tournament.

in an avg $1500 nlh wsop tourney with 2k runners i assume that the very best players have an expected roi of at least 150 prolly more %. the very worst player prolly has an expected roi of maybe -95% or so.

if one of those very best players offers me a piece for even money in such an event i take it without hesitation. in this 50k horse event the very best overall horse player maybe has a roi of 50% (prbably much less, i dunno) and i doubt that bigjoe is this very best overall horse player. hes deffinitely +ev but only with a very short margin. he wouldnt offer his pieces at even money if he was convinced that he had a say 50% roi. (unless he really needs backers for brm reasons but wouldnt find enough if he sold 1% for $550 or whatever, but thats not the case imo)

im realizing right now that the variance argument isnt really valid since the variance of wether somebody makes the money in a given tourney is always very very high no matter how good he is. even very good players only make the money a small bit more often then avg players. this small bit more cashes+ the fact that they finish higher is creating their bigger roi.

thanks for the explanation, definitely clears a few things up.

is this due to the quality of the field or something else?

ps: joe's up to 100k

Re: Selling %s in the 50k HORSE

good game joe
fun sweat everyone
thread

let's hope for a daniel, barry, ivey final table

Joseph Michael Eliminated in 14th Place ($142,080)

Stud:

Joseph Michael was all in on sixth street against David Bach, with Michael showing {7-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} {6-Hearts} to Bach's {7-Hearts} {J-Hearts} {A-Clubs} {10-Spades}. Michael had {A-Spades} {6-Clubs} in the hole and needed some help to beat the {K-Spades} {K-Clubs} Bach held, but after Michael made two pair on seventh street when he caught the {4-Hearts}, Bach made a bigger two pair when he hit the {10-Clubs}. And with that Michael was eliminated in 14th place.

"Where is someone so I can get my money and get the (deleted) out of here," Michael said as he got up and left the table.

alexruimy: yes the quality and the small size of the field keep anyone from having a huge roi.

Re: Selling %s in the 50k HORSE

so now, for the ignorant (me), how do we figure out how much we've earned? invested $x, buy in is $50,000, he got paid $142,080. this is my first % deal so i dunno if there are certain return things that i'm not taking into account.

Re: Selling %s in the 50k HORSE

I think I'm most upset about how Pokernews covered this event. Not reporting any hands, and completely messing up the hands they did report, and then having that ridiculous misquote on the end. I definately did not say that quote. The hand of the night was the Bueno v Me hand in Holdem. It was the 3rd hand after we switched tables I think and it went like this....

Greenstein limps UTG for 20k...(weird)
Bueno limps from high jack
Huck Seed limps from cutoff
I limp on button with KTdiamonds
Scotty Nguen calls
Ivy checks option
Flop is Qc Jc 4d
Ivey bets out 20k, Bueno calls, I call
Turn is 9h
Ivey bets out 40k, Bueno raises, I reraise to 120, Ivey folds, Bueno calls
River is J
Bueno checks, I make what is probably a bad bet, Bueno c/r I call (probably could have folded)
He has JQ, Ivey says he had Qx
gg me

Then I lose 3 razz hands where I start with all 3 of my cards being lower than the other persons up card
Then I start in Stud Hi with Kd, 5d, Qd, 8d against Greenstiends K up (there was another king dead), and I brick out

the final hand I started with 4 to a low including an Ace and brick out, making two pair which lose to Bach's rivered 2 pair.

But the Holdem hand with Bueno (who is definately the worst player left in the field by a longshot, he played 8 out of 8 Omaha 8 hands and showed down things like 24TJ etc, and called my raise in Stud hi/lo with K72rainbow etc) was just absolutely brutal, especially bc he just called Ivey's raise on the flop even though it was 5 handed and the most draw heavy board ever, and then puts in 3 big bets on the turn with the worst hand and hits a miracle 3 outer is just so sickening.

Anyway it was a good run, I need to figure out how to pay everyone since I can't transfer all of the money online bc of taxes. Does anyone have any advice for this. I'm thinking maybe I can transfer back the original investment online and then send checks for the profit??? Thoughts?

Yeah it was pretty ******ed that pokernews didn't cover any of your hands. Do you think your ROI in this tourney was lower or higher than your original estimate?
