tonight i got into two quad-over-quad scenarios within an hour (in omaha)

what improbable poker events have you experienced?

I won a hand.

I lost a hand.

I chopped a hand.

Sammy and I watched Fidstar play a $3 mtt on stars about 2 or 3 years ago. He did not win the mtt.

I asked Mr. Sheep to lock this thread to pop his quads-thread-lock-cherry.

I cashed out.

two straight flushes against the same guy in holdem within 15 minutes, didn't win either pot ... lost one and tied one ... about a month or two ago


decades ago dealt a hand of 7-stud where two guys chopped with jack high straight flushes

200nl 9max NLH in an underground room. I was the dealer:

Hand 1: Flop ~J85o. My dad had QJ, the other guy 88. They go all-in and run it 3 times. My dad wins all of the 3 runs.

Hand 2: It was an all-in spot on the turn. Set vs set. My dad had 66, the other guy had TT. My dad only had 1 out left (6d)

I deal the river, it was exactly 6d. Everyone saw, but turns out that I made a mistake and they weren't actually all-in yet (The guy only raised to ~95% of his stack instead of all-in and my dad said "All-in". The guy still had to call).

So I had to take the 9d back and shuffle it back into the deck. After the guy called, I dealt the river again and it was exactly the 6d again. Everyone was in shock + some of them already suspected before that I might be cheating to help my dad. Nobody said anything, but I was able to feel their stares. Honestly, if I wasn't the one dealing, I'd probably think something was wrong too.

Anyways, those probably weren't the most unbelievable hands ever, but they did definitely put me in a very awkward position.

quads over quads is actually pretty common. I see it all the time. straight flush vs a-high flush on non-paired board is the real kicker.
