Interesting idea. Will there be an election spike? More people than usual will probably be getting drunk on a Tuesday, and drunk people kill themselves at a higher rate, though the question of causation comes into play--ie did they get drunk because they planned on killing themselves while sober?

my idea about the election causing a suicide spike stems from what I have seen around me, I know far too many fragile people whose weak mind/emotional state can't handle their candidate losing, this election cycle has been so dominated by the kool-aid drinkers on both sides that the people like me that exist quite near the center of the political spectrum are disgusted by both sides. But when I look at the kool-aid drinkers all I see are weak people desperately believing that if the other side wins its the end of the world and I see a lot of people who will be unable to accept the reality around them that will contradict their brainwashing, leading to the inevitable psychotic breakdown and suicide of that person.
