Playing anti-computer is pretty easy, also it is pretty obvious if someone is using a computer.

I would never cheat at chess... the game would be public so everyone could scrutinize the moves for ethical behaviour..

Interesting story (if you are a chess nerd).

About 10 years ago, there was an internet chess phenomenon going on. There was a player that was destroying all the top grandmasters in speed chess. His opening was funky. Somthing like f3, kf2, Ke3, Kd3, c3. Something like that. Nigel Short, one of the top speed players in the world, played this person like 50 times and lost most of it. He insisted it was Bobby Fischer.

Another grandmaster said something in a chat about a random person fischer played in the 60s, and the person automatically responded the year and tournament, which was spot on.

That year I played in a tournament in Vegas, and Jeremy Silman was lecturing there and he was sure this person was Bobby Fischer destroying in 3-0 against the worlds best.

Apparently it was just some geeky programmer that developed his own off-the-wall opening and tricked the best of the best.

I haven't played tournament chess in years. Chessmaster is a joke and anyone using it is a joke. Anti computer chess is pretty each - avoid tactics, close up the center, and play a positional game.

And what do you get out of playing an anti-computer chess? it will become very obvious your opponent shuffling his pieces back and forth making zero progress because the computer can't calculate it.

If you can't beat your chessmaster with those time controls, that says more about how much you suck rather than how good a piece of garbage chess program is.

I suck at poker, thats why I'm not playing.

I've been playing against chess computers since I had Sargon 2 for the Apple IIe when I was about 8 years old. I've owned many different stand along chess computer handhelds and currently own an older Novag. I have pocket fritz for pocket pc, and most chessbase engines, along with databases, opening books, and soon adding a 2 terebyte drive to my computer just for all 6 piece tablebases.

I played tournament chess from 1994-2004, and might come back next year.

Chessmaster is a good program to learn the game, and the personalities can be fun, but it's not particularly strong compared to other chess software. Their analysis is just a joke.

You may be a better poker player than me, but I know I'm better at chess.
