Just curious, why did you choose a jar over a bottle?

10k at ssnl over 7 years is just ****ing horrible. You can play low stake SNGs and make more then that over the course of a few months. You did not put enough work and now you just wanna put down other players for it? It definetly isn't a pipe dream and nowhere close for the average person.

I could only afford to eat a carrot, 2 yogurts, and a $1 BRC burrito from El Pollo Loco today. I am so hungry. Right now. I think I'm about to lose some serious weight now that I'm broke.

I agree with OP that most poker players are delusional about making $ playing and ARE NOT willing to work hard to get good.

I disagree with all the sour grapes about how poker isn't enjoyable. It isn't enjoyable for YOU.

I had a dream of playing poker for a living and I lived that dream for 1 year, paying for an apartment in Hawaii by the beach. Beach, poker, beach, poker, beach, poker, go out to eat, ad nauseum. Best year of my life.

You know, that just doesn't show much, or at least not what you think it does. There's variance and then there's sucking. Look at the graph. In the WORST case the guy who is running inconceivably good is only earning about 3x more than the guy who is running inconceivably badly. That's to say, the guy who is running 'good' would have earned 30k in the past 7 years if he were at OP's level, but just running really good and OP was running really bad. I think it's fairly safe to say 'Baluga' has earned more than 30k in the past 7 years.

Hello. Winning is only for other people. Poker is rocket science and impossible for anyone to beat except BalugaWhale, Dusty "Leatherass" Schmidt, and Nanonoko, and not me. I am a donk who sucks at internet poker because card games are very intricate and impossible to beat. Cards are scary.

Well, it's true that most of the games are revolved around searching for the weak players which there are tons of. I feel great taking their money because we both have an equal chance in winning, I may understand the game more but that means I deserve to win as much as a sports team deserves to win the trophy at the end of the playoffs.

I deposited 10 bucks on poker stars and turned it into a bunch of money, I am building up and learning as opposed to what I did in the past. I would deposit 200 go busto then again and again. (not rolled obviously)

Most guys online today make money with the rake back and playing nit poker.

Not everyone can be good, but that where taking your ego out of the game helps you to analyze the question "Am I he nuts at poker?"

Thats why you have many gambling addicts, and degens playing even though they never win, their ego tells them they are suppose to win. Or in most cases they come accross a hot streak win a bunch of money and think that they can do it over and over and make 10k per day playing 2 buy in poker.

Your quiting because you can't handle your own ego, and your emotions. It has nothing to do with the online poker.

And when I build up enough money I will say "Head Up for rolls?" but for now I'll grind at the micro stakes and take my $10 into $100k before Daniel Negranu!

The way the poker economy works only a minority can win big. Thank God for PTR shedding the light on truth.

Emotional control is also crucial for success. If you are tilty it's very difficult to overcome that... Tilting off a buyin is a big mistake. If you do it every now and then it kills your winrate.

First, you guys think I just stayed at NL50/NL100 and fed off the fishes my entire poker career. I didn't. I took shots whenever I had the bankroll. I also run like a whore when I shot take, and I had a bit of tilt, and I sucked, so that's where all of my winnings went.

Second, my negative attitude is only after barely scraping by for so many years. I studied hard for long periods of time and trained for the proper mindset. But I still sucked. It's not that I had a negative attitude coming in. I'm saying I did practically everything right and never got over the SSNL hump. You don't have to believe me, that's fine. But a lot of you will be where I'm at someday, and you'll realize phrases like "work harder lol" have no real meaning to you. I worked my ass off and I suck. GG to me.

Finally, a lot of you can say my numbers are arbitrary. But they're really not. I bet if I PTR'd most of you, your winrate wouldn't be higher than 1ptbb/100. Some players crush poker -- congrats. A huge percentage don't. And hard work doesn't necessarily mean you'll accomplish anything. That's all I wanted to say in my post.

Poker is like life -- most people just suck. Most of us try to be successful... a few succeed. Not really news, I guess.

Buh bye BBV. Let's ride this humiliating thread out and cook some bacon, shall we?

One thing I just get better and better at, with little effort at all, is my songwriting.

I never practice guitar/voice and I get better and better. I practice poker every day and get worse and worse. I wish I had natural poker talent, too, because playing songs doesn't earn you ****. Wrong genes, man.

For that year and a half, I played/studied about 40 hrs/week. Recently, I finally decided to quit poker. Why? Well, I tilt a lot and I can't manage it. My game is pretty well developed, but mentally, I can't handle the challenges.

I would like to end my 2+2 career by summarizing my thoughts. I decided to put them here in BBV so I could be flamed, mocked, and humiliated before moving on with my life.

I want to go pro, and/or I want to get good at poker to avoid work
This is the number 1 attitude I see in young players. 99 percent of you will fail. Having desire is one thing, but a pipe dream is something entirely different. Every successful professional grinder earns tons of money before going pro. If you ain't making the money now, you can't go pro. So get your degenerate asses back in school.

We can all be great players
This is a huge misconception. TheNikachu (successful 5/10 grinder) told me that only 5 percent of all poker players have what it takes to win. 5 percent of that population has what it takes to win and enjoy what they're doing. Finally, a rare 5 percent of that population has what it takes to win and enjoy it day in and day out. This is BalugaWhale, Dusty "Leatherass" Schmidt, and Nanonoko. Not you.

Internet poker is an exciting, unique, individual way of supporting yourself
Not really. It consists of sitting on your ass 10 hours a day staring at a computer screen, clicking buttons, and peeing into jars. As you move up in the stakes, you play against more and more ******s doing the same thing. Everybody is just hoping that some mega-fish sits at the table and loads off a cool 10k. In effect, every good poker player is a bum hunter. ******s and gambling addicts are the best players to play against. Should you really be proud of taking their money?

You're just a donk who sucks at internet poker
Yes, this is true.

Anyway, hope you enjoyed my reflections on the waste that was the past 7 years of my life.

Havent read the whole thread, but i have to agree with you sir.
I´m (braaaag) one of the 1% and the money won doesnt change that playing per se can suck rly hard if you´re not some geek (not meant in a negative way) or somebody like durrr or isildur who love the game so much.

I think you made a good choice OP and gl with your life!

p.s.:
The part with beeing proud is meh. Its not about pride.
