Playing by the Rules: How a Misunderstanding Cost Me Access to GG.NL Playing by the Rules: How a Misunderstanding Cost Me Access to GG.NL

Little introduction:
Johannes 42years old, marine core veteran and long time online poker player from the Netherlands, way before black-friday when Fixed Limit Hold'em and cardrunners was a thing ( I miss these days)

State of the games in the Netherlands
We are still waiting for the moment that Pokerstars, Partypoker, 888Poker, etc. get licensed by the Dutch government. For now, we have two iPoker skins: Bet365 and Holland Casino, as well as Unibet and GGpoker.

Before the GG Legalization
Before the regulation, I was playing Partypoker (with rakeback) and Pokerstars until a GG-agent reached out to me, asking if I would play on GG.Com as well. Even though I had no interest in playing GG at that time because I had no rakeback there, I still opened an account and played a few MTT's (lost like $500)

Finally the day the Netherlands legalized online poker
After years of waiting, the Dutch government legalized a few poker sites, including GG.NL, which had become the second-largest site after PokerStars. On the first day of legalization, I created a new account on their site but received a warning that my phone number already existed. Instead of waiting for GG support, I sent an email explaining that I wanted to exclude my old GG.Com account in order to play on GG.NL. Support was extremely busy that week, registering and helping new players, so I took the initiative.

I excluded my GG.Com account, and a few days later, I received a reply from GG stating that I could not create a new account on GG.NL due to my exclusion on GG.Com. I had unwittingly dug my own grave by not reading the house rules properly. To make matters worse, GG included links to gambling addiction resources in the email. They never reacted to my initial e-mail.

After years of waiting for GG to be regulated in the Netherlands, I now find myself somewhat playing empty-handed, playing on sites like iPoker, or Unibet with less traffic and poor MTT's schedules. It's even harder to look at poker scout and realize that there are 298.565 players online at GG during the weekend.

It feels incredibly unfair, as I warned them via email and have all the evidence to prove my mistake. From the GG-Agent creating the .Com account, until my email that I 'm going to exclude it, because of the combined account warning. They are sticking to their so called house rules, even though they acknowledged the mistake that was made. It's even more frustrating to know that some people are playing at GG-Poker using fake names, IPs, and VPN. I am just one person, loving the game and being honest, I have so many questions why?

I am trying everything within my power to return to the GG Tables, also with this post I am hoping to reach out to GG, look into this matter together and rectify it after all.

Is it worth a shot, I don't know, nothing ventured, nothing gained right. Shoot me a PM, if you could help out.

I'm afraid there's nothing you can do about it. I had the same issue with Pokerstars once when I excluded myself on the .com-Version which meant I couldn't play on the .fr-software either. You may not like it (I certainly didn't), but it obviously makes sense.

Thanks for your feedback.

The deliberate exclusion was purely based on the fact, that I couldn't manage to create a GG.NL account, not for personal issues, e.g. a gambling addiction. Then, of course, I would have accepted the consequences and the accompanying house rules.

It was not a smart move, I am aware of that. I had not read the rules carefully enough regarding the subject "exclusion" ,excluding myself was completely new to me at that time. I did it purely on a whim to solve the current problem and had the feeling in the back of my mind, that my advance warning by e-mail would get enough support from GG.

I don't know if GG have a discord channel. You might get a response there also.

The words "personal responsibility" should be considered hate speach in your country as well as USA. "I took the initiative" should be translated to "I did whatever the hell I wanted to". Now that the consequences have arrived; you cry victim. SMH
