This is something I hadn't seen before, and the more I think about it, the more remarkable it becomes to me.

Flight 1B of a 2 day $300 buy-in $100K GTD in Houston. We're on the final two tables with 18 left. 12th and 11th get $450, and the final 10 move onto day 2 guaranteed $500. Sadly, I did not see the exact action because I was on the other table playing, so I can only share what I know for sure: a guy went all in with a weak 9x, 79 or 89, and was called by the BB who had a bigger 9. The board was AAK9x. At the time, the pot was awarded to the BB. A new hand is dealt, the guy who lost the hand leaves. Discussion boils up about how it should have been a chopped pot. The dealer summons floor as a couple of the players are convinced it should have been a chop. Floor reviews and confirms, but the guy isn't in the building anymore, so floor runs out to the parking lot in attempt to chase him down. No luck - not in the parking lot. The floor calls and leaves a voicemail on the player's phone regarding the situation. The stacks are recalculated and play continues at the table.

Some hands later, the dude who busted comes storming back in and jogs to his seat. An eruption of laughter and smiles are exchanged at the table which is suddenly interrupted by the dude shoving his first had back. It's for <10bb, probably like 6. BB calls off again, this time with Q7s. Dude turns over AA. Q7x on the flop, GG - for real this time.

Not a huge spot or anything, but I just think, "When the hell do you ever get a call from the poker room telling you to come back after busting a tournament letting you know that you're still in?" My answer is maybe once in your poker career, but probably closer to never for most players. And then, first hand back you look down at aces, and you can't believe your luck! Wow! Suddenly, AA no good, go ahead and head back home now.
