Disregard that OP. I still think I was the first using it on 2+2, but I now found a reference which must be the earliest one:

I believe the ancient tale lies back when OP's mother birthed him out on the field near the dog track. OP's mom bet on the #6 dog for her last $50 and when the medic finally arrived she screamed, WHO WON THE RACE?!

The medic said, "dog 8 was the winner."

she cried out louder than the baby, NOO! I had the #6!"

the medic replied

"Gotta lose that money"

MATTHEW 21:11

And Jesus entered into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the money-changers, and the seats of them that sold the doves;
And the money changers cried "But why, Jesus? Why? How shall we feed our families if you take our livelihood from us?"
And Jesus replied "I know it sucks, but you gotta lose that money".

I was snooping around in some Egyptian pyramids recently when I found this piece of papyrus:

Clearly Jesus didn't think of it himself!

These are all great findings, guys. But this new image of the cosmic microwave background seems to indicate that the term "gotta lose that money" might go back way more than we all deemed possible:

I had a feeling we would make it to the big bang.

Well done.

Maybe we can find it in the very fabric of reality... like in the binary representation of Pi...

It came from the Romans as they gambled alot on gladiators, some of them there whole life roll and when they lost, instead of raging they just said 'gotta lose dat money'

Well Pi is an irrational number, with an infinite non-repeating decimal expansion in any base. I'm not sure, but this might mean that every possible sequence of finite length can be found in there.
