Old Brag: won the SundaySurprise on Winamax and the surprise that went with it Old Brag: won the SundaySurprise on Winamax and the surprise that went with it

So here's the story,

Brag: I used to play on winamax under the SN SwissOdds and was a "reg" at low to mid stakes.
A few years ago I played the SundaySurprise, a 10euros bi 50k grt and sunran to the FT of that donkament that had almost 6k runners. I knew it was called the SundaySurprise for a reason but didnt bother looking into it prior to this sunday.
Once I reached the FT I obvsly ran pure and ended up HU vs a douche that was constently trying to bully me in the chat. I noticed some of his friends were railing too as they were also pretty arsh to me, the polite Swiss boy.

On winamax, when you reach the top 3 places of a rather large field mtt, you are sometimes offered (in addition to the regular payout) a 150euros ticket. At first, I thought that this was "the surprise" I was getting for reaching those spots and felt pretty happy abt it.

As HU play started, I sharkscoped the douche I was facing and found out I was much better than him stat-wise. Many more tourneys played, better scores, better graph, better ROI etc... I was a more experienced and a better player.

Therefore, I told him I was ok to make a deal but because I had a slight CL atm and because I had an obvious edge vs him, I wanted more than an even chop.
Regular payouts were something around 8k euros 1st and 5.5k euros 2nd.

At that point, I wasnt thinking abt "the surprise" at all as I had figure that it was going to be this 150euros ticket (lol why so naive tho).

The rude guy kept on thrash talking abt me pretty hard in the chat. His douchey friends were also making fun of me big time like "oh you ***** stupid swiss loser, you gonna get owned" and so on. Though I didnt lose my temper and gently wrote: "ok, if you dont want to agree on this deal, lets play for the whole enchilada.".

It felt like he was surprised (no pun intended lol) because he then wrote "oh, are you really sure, we can maybe have an other look at it".

But I my choice was made.

The following two minutes were surreal. I cant remember the exact hand but I know that once the deal-break was over, he straight up tried to bluff me off my holding w/ a bad river bluff for half his stack and then, in the very next hand, proceed to ship it all in pre w/ a marginal hand that I had crushed.

I called and won the effin SundaySurprise with no deal for almost 8k. Not too shabby for a 11$ initial investment.

I was obvsly very happy. But I couldnt sleep as I had to catch my 06:55 train to go to work.
I also got that 150 euros ticket credited to my account. Everything was great.
The following day, I told my gf that I won a decent amount of money but did not give any details as she had always been pretty much against me playing a gambling game for real money on the internet.
This all happened one week prior to my birthday.

One week later, the day before my birthday I thought abt the winamax blog. I knew they used to review some tourneys on there. So I was like, lets see if they talk abt me shipping the Suprise last sunday (Brag).

As I was browsing their blog, I ended up reading an article w/ the title: "SwissOdds not only cashed for 8k but will also be flown to Indonesia with the person of his choice".
I was like. wtf is this? what does this mean? Is this a joke?

The article said that I not only did win the Surprise but that I also won a 10 days dream trip for two people to the Indonesian island of Bali w/ an all inclusive 5 stars formula.

Wow, lol, wait a minute, is this real life?
So the douche and his friends knew that the surprise wasnt the "stupid" ticket (that is often given to the last top 3 players of many other tourneys on winamax) but is actually something pretty massive regarding the BI of the Sunday surprise and that it changes every single sunday (other destinations, other themes, other formulas etc).
Something I had absolutely no clue about.

I sent an email to the support because I couldnt believe my luck and the fact that I had no idea about this when I refused the deal and, like a real man, said "lets play".

The support confirmed that I was the happy winner of the trip and told me everything I had to know to have it organised by them.

Beat: (and 1st world "problem") my gf just went back from a trip to Indonesia w/ her best friend two month before my shippament. But this was a pretty hippy one. They didnt have much money and went there to climb up the volcanos and walk around with huge backpacks . They slept in really cheap and dirty hotels.

So when I was sure that the whole thing wasnt some fake news, I told her, "Honey, I can dodge bullets!". Just kidding lol, I told her: "Honey, what if you could go back to Indonesia, would you like it?" She answered, "oh, yes, with pleasure but only if we could go together and stay in some nice hotels with the goal of doing nothing except, visting, chilling, sleeping and "beaching"".

"Ok then, I won 8k last sunday and I also won a 10 days all inclusive trip for two people in Indonesia. The resorts are natural bio Spa resorts. I think you ll like it. Shall we go?".

The lady from the Winamax customer service did an amazing job organizing everything for us. From passports validation to shuttle service and so on.
We flew there in september (won it early june). We had an amazing time. GF was delighted and also ended up hating a bit less on the pocar.

Thing is, if I had known I was playing for an added price like this (the cost of that all inclusive 10 days trip for two was at least 7k euros) I certainly would have apprehended the HU differently and would have felt the pressure. The fact that I realised I had won such a amazing added prize only one week later and one day before my bday made the whole thing even more surreal.

If some are interested, I could narrate the full trip but I didnt want to make it too long.

Variance: we are still together.

Beat: Winamax ceased its activities on the Swiss market last January because of the changes operated within the online gaming regulation laws. I lost a decent source of side incomes (that I could sometimes add to my monthly salary)

But hey, those were some good times

I think we should have a thread for trip reports of random poker prize vacations you win. They're super funny and interesting compared to regular vacations mostly because you didn't know you were gonna win them and they're often kinda random.
I so badly want a trip report from the dude who won a camel trip for two across the gobi desert or something lmao.

I had a university roommate from Switzerland. He was the most polite person I had ever met, ainec.

Judging from swissodds, this confirms the Swiss are statistically the most polite people in the world.

Sample size 2.

Lol ahah

I mean, we are part of a small 8 million citizens country w/ 4 différent official languages.

Therefore, we better be polite toward each other to coexist as one people peacefully.

But dont get wrong though, you dont wanna fu** w/ og old school farmers from the deep countrysides or mountains villages of Switzerland.

They d turn you into shredded cheese for disrespecting their habits or origins.

I think you're supposed to say hello to everybody in the elevator in Switzerland. It's the law or something.
