I have started playing NL 20 on 888 and I reached almost $700 in 16k hands. Suddenly I started a terrible downswing and I lost half of it in 26k hands. I want to know if this is normal in cash games. How can I play very well in the beginning and suck later on?

Hello. Is this $700 your profit after taxes? I want to answer your question but i need this info first thank you.
Not normal variance. A 17 BI downswing is right on the max in any standard deviation chart(by a factor of 3.5x !!!!). Downswing is statistically comming to an end (muphy's law) right about now. If I were you, I would move up to 100 NL and be quite confident to win back the 17BIs ($1700 before taxes). Just simple maths.
