Even if hustla bets his hands in a way that makes this call +ev:

1) he missed his draw in a big pot
2) his bluff failed in a weird way
3) op won a very big pot where, even if his call is +ev, he probably won more than it is really worth

So I fail to see why he shouldn't be frustrated about it. Show some sympathy.

With proper reads this is a very reasonable call given that J-high is good enough of the time vs a range that gets to the river this way.

it's not standard, and against 90% of people you'll encounter it's abysmal.


im really not in a position to critique it, but given that i know nothing about the OP, i'd say it's more likely that it was a ****ty call. he could be a great player for all i know though.

and while i dont think it's particularly relevant to have a balanced range in spots like this, there's something unsettling about calling with virtually 100% of the hands that you check with. which in itself is enough of a reason why it isnt even close to standard (not that there arent other reasons).

other reasons why it's far from standard....

if the other guy is value betting any ace+ (reasonable in this spot imo) and bluffing with an appropriate range as to make the OP indifferent to calling with his bluff catchers, part of his bluff range is going to be beating your J7 high. sure, it depends a lot on how he plays his draws. but most people under most circumstances will be making a play at the pot with a flopped open ended straight draw earlier on, and almost everyone will make a play at the pot here with a combo draw. that severely limits the number of **** hands he might wind up with at the end that he'll feel the need to bluff with. and if he does play his draws in that fashion consistently, i think it says a lot about his inclination to bluff the river.
