Hello guys this is my story of how I made a milly from poker
I am a 29 yr old from Australia and my journey started in high school when I tried to download a movie on piratebay. An ad popped from 888 poker suggesting that if I make an account they will give me 8 dollars for free. Of course as the curious 17 yr old I was I signed up... and what do you know it was real money lol. I was instantly hooked and obviously busted my roll playing microstakes. I then proceeded to make an account on every single new device that was available to me as creating an account on the same device would not work. I used every school computer, public library computer, friends phones etc. I don't even remember how many accounts I made but for the story's sake I would say in the vicinity of 200-300 accounts were made. I grinded the nl holdem sit and goes like no tomorrow, I loved the prospect of making money and was inspired by all the pros on Highstakes poker on YouTube which became a massive pastime for me. I still have a vivid memory of the screename "Trueteller" holding down the high stakes which I thought was so awesome. Anyways I had many highs and lows early on and was so prone to tilt that I was busting my bankoll to regs holding down the 500 dollar sit and goes. I remember watching a video of omaha on youtube which peaked my interest and thus I started playing omaha sit n goes. After a lot of trial and errors trying to get better at the game I amassed a measly roll of 5k playing omaha sit n goes. I decided to withdraw this money and move to pokerstars which was the biggest site at the time.
My pokerstars journey started while I was at university, it started where I left off playing omaha sit n goes. I grinded the hypers as that was the most readily available to me. You might also be asking why I never tried cash. For some reason whenever I saw the cash denominations in my stack I got nervous when playing so I always felt more comfortable playing plo hypers. I think i started off playing the 3 dollar hypers but I eventually grinded my way up to become a 60 and 100 dollar hyper sit n go reg. I still remember one day I tilted so hard and busted my roll to kaju85 at the 500 plo hypers. After that I decided I cant control myself lol, so I self imposed a ban on myself preventing me from playing any sit n go stakes above 100. I came back and started crushing again but the money I was making was just nice pocket change, not enough to make a living. My pokerstars screename was ASabir and below is my sharkscope graph.

Eventually Pokerstars got banned and I thought I had to give up on poker. A year or so has passed and I came across a site named Ignition which apparently was available to Australians. I deposited 1000 dollars and realized playing sit n goes wasn't viable as there wasn't any hypers or traffic available on the site. Thus I was forced to play cash to make some money and so I did and busted my roll playing plo 200. I honestly thought I wasnt good enough so I didn't play for another year. Suddenly one day I had the urge to play poker again and deposited around 3-4k again and try my luck again. It went well... I became a winner of the bat and started making the most efficient and variance free money I ever could imagine playing plo200 for 4 years straight. I really had no ambition in moving up stakes as I was quite comfortable beating plo 200 for 15bb/100 and didnt want to leave my comfort zone. Eventually at the start of 2023 my mate convinced me to give plo500 a go. Luckily the action was so good and I didnt really need to have and "real" skillset to beat the game. Now at the start of 2024 I somehow found the courage to move up to plo 1000/2000. Again action was so good that I became a winner instantly again however after 2 months of playing in May I experienced my biggest downswing ever. I played poorly and ran incredibly below ev, I couldnt believe it and thought they must be card sharing... I was forced to move back down to plo500. It was such a let down playing plo 500 after experiencing the highs of plo2000. So after playing plo 500 to try and boost back my bankroll I took shots and plo 1000/2000 again and had one good day of 34k put me back on track to reach my goal of 1 million. After 4 months of playing I got out of my downswing and reach the goal woooooooo!
I never studied the game and only got better by putting in the volume playing, watching YouTube videos and rail birding highstakes pros. I did reach my goal but I still have a lot of regrets, I wish had more ambition in terms of playing the higher stakes. I had way too much bankroll management security and just needed to take a shot which is what poker is all about gambling! I'm eternally grateful for poker being able to purchase my own house and to live a comfortable life. If you reached this far thank you for reading my story, I hope my next milly will be a lot quicker!!
