I actually ran my own cardroom for a few months. Tried to do it as a legit business, but in the end it got shut down. The way we did rake was one of two way. Option one was that each player would pay a $5 house fee every half hour when the new dealer arrived. Option two was that every player on the button would post a $3 button fee. Obviously theres a third option where u would just rake the pots, but that was not an option for us. The most profitable way to make money is doing the $5/half hour, because an average dealer will get out about 13 hands per half hour. If u rake $3 a hand, ur only making $39. Also if you running split pot games, you geet out even less hands. Bad thing about doing a $5 half hour fee, it sometimes entices players to leave, and you obviously make more money if they stay. By doing a rake per hand, people dont mind the rake b/c they jus won the pot, or they jus lost the pot, either way, they dont notice the $3 rake. By making players pay by time, when they plan on leaving, then tecd to jus finish the half an hour, and 3 players will get up and bounce at the same time. Starting out, i would just do a regular rake, but if you get to the point where you get 3-4 tables, i would leave it up to the players. Also, u need to get dealers. U want competant ones, b/c the more hands they get out, the more you make. Great thing about that is you dont even need to pay for your dealer. In some cases, u can actually make your dealers pay you, b/c on a busy night, they will walk out with $400+ easy. Also, if you plan on doing this, i highly recommend security, or at least a big ***** with a gun. Places like these r likely to get robbed. Ummmm..... custom chips r a must. Like i said, i opened one of these up and i kinda know how to run it. But super illegal. I got shut down cuz the indians didnt like it. But if ur really goiong 4 it, good luck. I wouldnt recomend it.
