I'm very much a beginner. I've been reading some books (mostly Ed Miller stuff), and trying to learn more by playing low stakes 6 max on ignition. I've been playing regular tables without a HUD as a kind of practice for live games, observing people and seeing if I could notice trends. Me and another player had been on a table for roughly an hour, and were both at about 19 dollars. He had been limping into most pots, betting like a maniac, and managed to hit it big on the turn and river against some other players.

UTG limped in, folds to V at the button who also limps, and I hit the check button at BB with every intention of folding with T4o.

Flop comes T22r

I wanted to give the V a chance to spew, and I figured why not. I didn't pay anything for this hand, and I wanted him to think I didn't have anything. I check, UTG checks, V checks.

Turn comes another T.

I check, UTG checks, V fires 60c into the 15c pot. I call, UTG folds.

River hits a J.

V bets 6 dollars into the pot, I hit all in and he calls. He had a one pair (jacks).

He immediately left the table lol. I know this isn't a big time story, but its the biggest hand I've ever won in poker and I just wanted to share. Had to take a break cause my adrenaline was so spiked .

Sorry if this is formatted incorrectly.

Careful with poker books, they tend to be outdated as the meta is constantly evolving. Most people advise 3bet or folding alot preflop as rake is so high in micro stakes online but playing 3bet pots out of position can be tricky when new to the game. Playing tighter at first will help you navigate postflop easier until you get a better feel of the game, good luck

And thanks Bryce, its something I've just recently discovered I enjoy (late 30's now), but I am having a lot of fun learning the game.

It was good for learning some basics, but I'm just now starting to get more comfortable with post flop play. Having the discipline to keep my preflop ranges right has been a struggle as well.

The hard part is not knowing if my play has lead to my winnings so far (about 325 on 75 dollars invested), or if its just variance and I've gotten lucky.
