I tried a new card room recently, and I ended up having the biggest winning session of my life! A good chunk of it came from an almost $3.6k pot, but there were some other interesting spots and one really nice bluff I snapped off as well. I also got to play with Cindy Violette, which was cool! Thought I'd include a few interesting hands from the session.
Hand #1 ($1/2 NLH)
Preflop: Hero ($276) has Q
J
UTG+2. Folds to hero, who raises to $12. CO calls, SB calls, BB calls.
Flop ($48): T
9
8
. Blinds check to hero who cbets for $45. Just SB (Cyndy Violette) calls.
Turn ($138): 2
. Cyndy checks. Hero sees Cyndy only has $160 behind, so hero pushes all-in having her covered. Cyndy thinks & eventually calls.
River ($458): 9
. Hero shows he has the straight, expecting to lose since literally everything got there on the river. Cyndy mucks, and hero takes it down!
Hand #2 ($5 PLO Double-Board Bomb Pot)
Preflop: Hero ($1,540) has K
K
7
4
. 8 players in the hand.
Flop ($40): 7
5
5
on top, 6
6
3
on bottom. Everyone checks to button who pots it for $40. SB calls. Hero knows he's behind, but recognizing how deep we are, calls thinking that he could stack someone if a K peels off. Everyone else folds.
Turn ($160): 7
on top, K
on bottom. Not only does hero bink the king for a boat on bottom, but he also picks up a third 7 for trips on top, pulling him ahead of anyone who had a 5 there! SB leads for pot, $160. Hero flat calls hoping the third player will join along. Button pushes all-in for $835. SB calls, and hero jams for $460 more. SB calls.
River ($3,585): T
on top, 2
on bottom. SB shows Q
6
4
3
for 66633 on the bottom board, nothing on top. Hero takes $920 side pot. Button shows 6
5
4
3
for 66633 on the bottom board & 55576 on top. Hero takes the $2,665 side pot as well for a total scoop of $3,585!
Hand #3 ($1/3 NLH)
Preflop: Hero ($3,887) has A
J
in the BB. Folds to CO, who limps in. Folds to hero, who raises to $21. CO calls.
Flop ($43): K
7
6
. Hero cbets for $25. CO calls.
Turn ($93): Q
. Hero picks up more equity and double-barrels for $50. CO calls.
River ($143): 7
. Hero gives up and checks it over. CO bets $120. Hero considers folding, but is trying to make sense of what CO has. His limp/call doesn't make a lot of sense given the board, and I can't think of any strong holdings that don't try to protect their hand on an earlier street. Hero's thinking it might be a busted draw, with the straight draw on the flop (98s maybe?) being the only one that really makes sense. Hero calls.
Showdown ($383): Villain shows T
8
for a busted straight draw, hero scoops w/ A-high.
