Slight OT but got a question to make my baller setup imo but there's some potential technical difficulties.
I have an early 2011 17-inch Macbook pro that I plan on hooking up to a 40+ inch tv monitor via mini-dvi display port to HDMI. My Macbook does not have thunder bolt and does not support USB 3.0. The max display resolution on my MBP is 1900 x 1200. Connected to my Sony 32inch Bravia via 1080p there is lag.
I have a samsung 256gb Pro SSD installed as the primary drive on my MPB. But I have a bootcamp partition so the drive is split 119gb/119gb and I have a secondary 512 Samsung Pro SSD that only works with the bootcamp partition.
The graphics cards is the stock Intel HD graphics 3000.
I checked this
Startech
USB 3.0 display port link posted above and apparently it is backwards compatible with USB. 2.0. from reading the reviews, it sounds like there will be a lot of lag simply dragging the mouse to the next monitor.
What are my options here? what is optimal if I want to connect my MBP to a 40+ inch LED tv/monitor? Is a cheap 4k an option here, will it even make a difference?
Keep in mind 2-3 years down the line I
might consider upgrading my MBP.
Would appreciate any help, ty everybody
