There's just too much going on in that room.

I mean... that looks pretty cool initially, but I honestly think I'd be a bit embarrassed if people came over and saw that. Maybe not if I was in my 20s but I think now that I'm almost 40 my friends would just laugh at me.

I like it though.

Having that kind of setup means you spend a lot of time behind your computer, meaning you probably dont socialize very much , meaning your real life friend circle is smaller and chances are the friends you have have similar interest hence not being wierd when they come over.

Well, that's what I would personally call "geeky".

It's exciting comparing the first few to the last few pages of this thread. Now we have smartphones and "27+ screens everywhere. How will the recent posts ITT look like in another 6 years?

That is a sick setup, but overkill for what I do. Nice clean set up with two monitors is ideal for me.

I've finally completed my setup. I'm using a Hengedock to hook up my Macbook Pro to a 30" Dell 3007WFP (2560x1600) and a 20" Dell 2007FP (1600x1200) in portrait. Now I'm able to 12 table across Bovada and ACR with no overlap and have my lobbies up on the right panel. I still play on the laptop half the time, but definitely loving the workspace this desktop setup provides.

pros and cons of having a portrait monitor?

I have my 2nd monitor on portrait at home & at work for several years now. It's great for stuff like reading PDFs and most web-pages, as well as for Word processing. No cons imo, since for everything the portrait mode is not appropriate, you still have the main on landscape.

I've been using dual 23 inch monitors for a few years now, but i have always wanted a Dell 30 inch. Is it worth it with the 4k monitors coming out etc. ?

For me it was about desk space and having the resolution line up perfectly. The big monitor is 2560x1600 and the side panel is 1200x1600 when in portrait. This makes the vertical pixels the same 1600, so I'm essentially getting 3760x1600 of total desktop space.

Yeah, the 4K monitors look cool. I certainly wouldn't pay full price for one of these 30" displays, but I was able to get mine off eBay for just $440. Completely worth it to me, I'm very happy with the setup.

Wow that is a pretty good price. I'll have to give ebay a try.

Only upside with 4K monitors(for now) for most is that the regular dell 30" should drop in price. You will never such a massive resolution for poker unless you have eaglevision or hate your eyes.

2560x1600 do just fine , no need to go ape**** with 4k x 3kx.

I think GTO setup is a dell 30" with a 21,5" on the side in portrait mode. Or two, each side while we are at it. (lobbyfest on one, play on 30" and read/Surf on the other)

No idea how people can use 4k screens. On my 27" with 2560*1440 i have to use 125% zoom on chrome to be able to read stuff.

Yeah, same here, 125% alldayerryday on my 30" 2560x1600.
4k displays are pointless unless they're 40"+ and that's kinda physically too big for a desktop.

Nice setup tedd.

Agree!!

Can anyone suggest monitors for having a 27" in the middle with a monitor either side in landscape mode. Having problems finding monitors that all line and are correct heights etc. Links to the monitors would be super helpful!

The only way I would do a 4k monitor would be with 32" or bigger. I had wanted a 30" 1600p dell for years but got sick of waiting for the price to drop so I ended up with dual dell 27" @ 1440p (got rid of 3 x 22" @ 1050p) for the price of 1 x 30" @ 1600p and couldn't be happier. I admittedly don't grind poker much anymore (but have tiled 6 or 8 tables when doing testing for work) but my setup is great for working (basically 4 portrait work spaces between the 2 monitors for multiple browsers or text editors, or 2 work spaces while watching full screen tv) and I love watching 720p or higher tv downloads full screen on them.

I can't stand 125% DPI on anything but my win8 8" tablet where clicking things on 100% is difficult. I run my dual 27's at 100% DPI.

Did/do they even make 1440 x XXX monitors that would line up when rotated to portrait? I would just suggest dual 27's in landscape if your desk is big enough. My desk is about 6' wide and I have 6 or 8 inches to spare on each side.

Yeh you might be right actually. Would you suggest 2x 27" @ 1920x1080 or got for 2x 2560 x 1440?

1440, resolution is more important than screen size (especially for tiling poker tables) since you can turn it down below the max or use DPI scaling but you can't increase resolution beyond the max. If you are going to make the investment on 2 bigger monitors do it right and get the biggest and most resolution you can afford. I got my dual dells on sale at Best Buy in December of 2013 for ~$1250 USD out the door.

Yeh sounds like best idea. Thanks

These seem pretty solid for dual monitors
