overheard Carroll telling my buddy (after railing him for 15 hours in a tourney that only I had a piece of my buddy in) that he was staked in the 2008 main event, agreed to give a majority of the winnings to the backer for tax purposes, before his cut was given to him. The staker then claimed he lost all his money in AIG not allowing him to pay Mike his money. Now it does sound shady and could be a sob story for a stake...but it could explain how he won a quarter mil and is now busto.

UPDATE!!

I was at Casino Copenhagen, playing 10/20 euro NL HL last saturday having a good time, and across the room i see a black guy playing at one of the "high stakes"- tables..

i could swear i met this guy and wanted to go up and talk to him, until i realized it was the guy from this thread MIKE CARROLL!

I started laughing and had to tell the other guys at the table, soon everyone was talking about it and a few started shouting "where´s my 1 k, pay the guy his money" etc and you could see on his face that he understood what we were talking about..

It didn´t take long before he was out the door.. too bad i couldn´t get it on camera,but im 100 % sure it was him, he even had one of his ugly basketball jerseys on!

I think this has damaged his rep a lot in the pokerworld, i bet he didn´t think that would happen when he decided not to pay up!
