Winning big - then what....? Winning big - then what....?

After reading the £10,000USD gift thread in BVB where Jalex-79 spewed off £10,000 in PLO with JJ on a KxK board (this is the guy who final tabled the sunday $6m who was previously a penny stakes player) I got to thinking about what would happen if you won a big, and I mean a REALLY big score - lottery or otherwise.

I mean - I love poker - it's all I think about, whenever I have a spare minute I review hands or play. But if you won say...$15m... what then? Are you really gonna be satisfied with binking say $7k for taking down one of the nightly micros?

You can't just jump up to the nosebleeds and expect to win if your standard BI is say 50NL. You can't just start playing $500-$1000BI MTT's and expect to be profitable if you only ever played say $11ABI. You are gonna get killed in those games

So there is the tipping point..but where is it? And by that I mean where does the amount of money actually mean something to you when you have $15m in the bank? Would you just give up poker? I couldn't, I know that....

I only marginally love winning more than winning money - both mean as much to me. But if the stakes are tiny the win means less....

Soooooooooo..... where would your tippng point be once you have exhausted the hookers, blow and spent mi$$ions on houses, cars and getting NMHU exterminated for being the most utter dulltard on the net?

Do you just go for the HS? Still grind teh SS/midstakes donkaments?

*As this is my first post in BBV I guess breadsavers should be added. But I can't be arsed to poast my own and so I would like to direct you to what I think is the most epic boobs thread on teh interwebs

Yeah, I think I'd probably be dead from the amount of nosebag I'd smash inthe first 6 months anyway, making the question moot

Also gonna hire the finest PLO coach then use that infinite knowledge to flip with ziigmund

My NLHE volume will probably be ~5x lower

15 million?!? Poker would certainly not be any sort of priority. I might quit I might not but until you have that 15 mill in your acc you'll never know.

I'd be more likely to just travel and enjoy life. *** some seriously hot biatches.

Certainly would not be taking copious chang. More likely quit all drugs and get high on life.

Now I think about it no f way would i play anymore serious poker. I loved poker before i was pro but nowadays it's exactly what it is - a grind.

so after a single reply you sabotage your entire point.

after calling someone else a "dulltard".

Trolling with nothing to say is dull IMO. hence "dulltard".

But this thread wasn't about me - I was genuinely interested to see what both fulltime and part time players alike would do.

okay if its 15 million im pretty sure that i know what id do.
i play 8-game and like some fancy lowball games, too.
id stop playing cashgame and only play mixed-game tournaments.
it would be for more for the challenge than for the money in the first place.
my schedule would include every mixed-event at the wsop.
i also would play the nl 27 single draw, stud8, stud hi and every omaha8 event that doesnt overlap the mixed events. it would prolly be ~100k a year for the wsop.
at home i would play one or two weekly 215$ tournamnets on stars (horse and 8-game mainly).
since i have a "other poker" ROI of +135% at 12$ avg buy-in,
i think i can at least breakeven with that schedule, since these wsop-events are usually quite soft.
if id lose every single game id spent ~120k a year on poker.
gimme 80 years of play and call me the oldest player ever and if id lose every single tourney
i would still just have lost 12 million $ and have 3 million left when i stop poker with 107 years.

i mean if i won 15M there's no way im going to be playing 100NL, 200NL, etc, although these stakes used to give me thrill.

It's kind of sad, and as much as i want to win 15M, i don't really want to, because i can promise you i will blow it all away in high stakes, as lower stakes will never give me the feeling it did before

Poker would become less of a grind about money and more of a fun hobby. I'd prob. Just play live tourneys. If I played cash I'd end up to relaxed and turn into the biggest lag at the tables.

I'd buy house, lock up some safe investments so I could live off interest and then set aside a bankroll for poker from which I'd probably play the live circuit and travel. Would probably play a bit online on my travels too. The live poker would then be more for fun, but it would be money I could definitely afford to lose with zero stress.

I definitely wouldn't do any crazy moving up online like Jalex-79.

I really couldn't stand Jerry Yang when he won the WSOP but credit to him, he took the money and invested it outside of poker and didn't spew it back at the tables.

yes, and never the same chick two times.

I would play any cash game or tourney where Phil Hellmuth plays and try to suck out on him hitting a 2outer on the river.

I'd stop playing and just jet around partying with a few select mates hammering blow and doing hookers. And invest the rest in property

$15M? I'd disappear in ways Copperfield hasn't dreamt of yet.

Seriously, after setting up the family (in-laws included), you could invest some, live off the rest, play the Main Event every year for giggles... and play 1/2 everytime the wife pisses me off. Just for fun.

If I was dreaming of $15M, i would never play poker professionally in the first place. It's pretty stupid dream for a pro IMHO. If you really wanted that big of a money, then you should've chosen business career.
I've played poker for fun many years and enjoyed it, until turned into pro. Since then I've layed back down and trying to have fun again at the game and not always go for highest +EV. I 3bet 30% lifetime. Yesterday I've posted few hands where i 3bet shoved several hands in a row with zero tilt involved. This way i find balance for myself. I still enjoy the game, i still make money, and i don't have to sit and grind when i don't want to....just like right now
