Not sure whether beat, brag, or variance.
So I'm playing at a Pai Gow Poker table at a large casino in Reno, came into the table with a few hundred in chips from a different game. I proceed to lose that in a few hands betting $200-300 a hand, and attempt to rebuy for $1k in $20s. The female Asian dealer tells me (with a heavy accent) "oh, you know, in Thailand, there was a time when young man walk up to table with a lot of $20s and he money laundering so he no able to play", and tells me she will change only $500 worth, and the remainder can be done "later" or at the cage. I say WTF, "OK cool but we're not in Thailand", and she then tells me the rules/laws have changed in Reno recently and that they no longer take large amounts of $20 bills.
Keep in mind I am only trying to change $1k worth to chips to play, not $10k or $100k. I ask WTF, since when, I've played with $20s before many times? She says recently, and continues to refuse accepting more than $500. I ask her to get the pit boss, who says in a not so confident voice "yeah... I think it's okay to change any amount", and she quickly snaps "SEE? HE DOESN'T KNOW EITHER". Then I ask for his boss, and he comes and also says WTF, this guy can change any amount he wants, "$1k, $3k, $5k, whatever."
Life goes on.
