Thanks for the stories and the video NAY-ta-muss.

Edit: best trip I ever had was alone, driving through one of those free gas station car washes over and over and over...

Man, those were the days. Selling shrooms... had a connect back then (05ish) who sold us half ElBe's for $1100, and they went for $40-50$ an eighth here. We kilt' it.

Thank you for bringing me back to that time in my life, and posting your video from the store. Moar plz.
Never tripped alone. Actually the above Trip is the only one I ever took. It had some dark parts late in the peak and on the come down internally that made me realize that 1. This Trip was essential to my existence. 2. It's the only one I'm safe to take in this existence if I want to keep my "wits" about me. My Dad did a metric ass-ton of psychedelics (he's a baby boomer who was in the bay area in the late 60s through 1971) and after I confessed to him what I did freshmen year selling wise and that I tried the shrooms we discussed my Trip. His advice at the end was that it was a good experience for me to have but to never do it again for my own safety and I've heeded those words.

24 Hours in Rosartio Beach Part 1

Freshmen year of college some of my friends from HS (Horacio - heir to a Mexican Rancho filled with livestock and horses. Nick & Kyle 5'8" half black/korean identical twins who went to the Air Force Academy on Football scholarships then went 'Special Forces'. Sergio a NCAA DIII O & D Lineman who is modestly listed at 6'3" 290lbs. And Hector who is my 'road dog' Mexican 'brother' since we were in 6th grade and myself who played DII and DI NCAA soccer as a backup goalkeeper) decided to go to Mexico for Spring Break, 2 nights at the Festival Plaza Resort in Roserito Beach to see The Game and Young Andre (Dr. Dre's son RIP) at Club Animal. I have to be at work Monday morning so I couldn't stay for more than Saturday night and I was ready to make the most of it. I had driven Beers and I to Ventura around 11pm the night before still coming down off of the Shroom we had taken Friday. I go to my parents place, shower and smoke a bowl and pass out for 7 hours. At 8am I get up and get myself together and head to my friend's place to pick up some of the guys. We were going to take 2 cars to San Diego, pick up Horacio who lived in Mission Valley with our pal Matt from growing up, then head down to the Festival Plaza across the border.

We check in and start pounding a 40oz of Mickey's each. About 20 minutes later we head down to Papas & Beer to get lunch and I buy a round of shots of tequila for the group and we get the party going over a pile of Tacos. I wasn't aware that the guys with the whistles and tequila we're going to come around and force all of us to drink until we gag and then demand $5 each from us. I argued with the guys before and after the action (which I denied and didn't want some dude shaking my head like a club-slut while another ******* blows a whistle in my ear.) but I paid for all 6 of our doing it. Between that and the shots and tipping the waitress for lunch I dusted off $100 at lunch (Hector paid for the food) which felt like $500 in Mexico. We then went around the corner to the "downtown" area and did some touristy drunk haggling in the touristy stores just to torture the shop keepers like a bunch of drunk college douche bags.

We head back to the room but I'm itching to smoke some weed as I'm still feeling some of the after effects of the shrooms. So I tell the guys that I need to go find a dime bag (a gram of pot) and I head down to the lobby with Horacio in tow incase I need a translator. In the lobby of the hotel I spot the most sketchy looking black dude I've ever seen. He looked so out of place amongst tons of Spring Breakers in a winter over-coat, brand name sunglasses and baggy jeans over 2 pairs of basketball shorts. He was sitting in the middle of the Lobby as if he fit right in. I walked up shamelessly:

"Yo bro, where you from?" I ask, "Oakland, Birch Street." He replies.

"You know Reese?" I ask knowing someone from Birch Street personally (our grandma's went to church together when we were little)

"Yea, that's one of my main plugs" he says. "Cool, I need a 20, you wanna take a walk?" He says cool and we head out to the street.

When he hit the sidewalk he tells me the weed is back at his and his friends Villa where they are partying about 2 miles up the street. I'm like no worries and hail a cab in the driveway and we head up the street. We're chatting a little bit and he's sort of evasive about who he knows in Oakland and stuff but I figure he's being shy because he doesn't trust me. We get to the property for his Villa and he says it's beach side about a block and a half back off the street. I pay the taxi and we hop out and start walking back. We get to the Villa and he opens the door and there is one dude sitting on the couch, a pretty nice guy but the place is CLEAN, practically spotless. No smoking stuff like bongs or pipes or ashtrays with roaches, nothing. This immediately gives me a major red flag because I don't know any pot dealers who aren't actively smoking pot and with friends hanging around the Villa... someone should most definitely be smoking. The connect says the stuff is in the back and heads into a bedroom while I make small talk with the guy on the couch. The connect comes back out and walks over to the back balcony door and calls over me and the guy on the couch. The guy from the couch heads outside and hopes the back wall onto the beach and the Connect is on the balcony when he says:

"You know what, actually the stuff isn't here because our friend took it down the beach to another groups place to sell some of it, come with us down there and we can get you some."

I knew right then that they was 100% robbery. They were going to get me on the sand and jump me and leave me out there, maybe to recover and make it back to my friends, maybe not. I wasn't going to find out if my gut was right. I immediately blurted out that I needed to get back to my friends ASAP and closed the door on them and locked it. I booked it through the Villa worried someone else may be inside that I didn't know about who could be armed and I ran out the front door. I sprinted to the street without looking back and hooked a right on the street back toward my hotel. About a block down I saw a taxi just sitting across the street and I yelled out "Yo, squallaaaaaaaa!" and whistled as loud as I could. The Taxi driver looked up and immediately pulled the U-Turn and swooped me up. I jumped in the front seat and put a $10 in his hand and said "Festival Plaza por favor rapido!" and he floored it like he knew I got myself into some BS. 5 minutes later we were outside my hotel and I threw the driver an extra $5 and told him if anyone ask he didn't pick me up or ever see me. He agreed and took off opposite of the direction we came.

After dinner Horacio went out to the streets with me and helped me find a much less sketchy dude who sold me 2gs of solid weed for $20. We went back to our hotel and heading to our room so I could roll it and smoke up when we are stopped by a huge brown haired white boy who asked us if we liked to smoke weed. I said I do but we don't have a pipe - he said he and his brothers had a pipe but no weed. We went to their room where we met the Moline brothers, 3 UCLA football players (a FB and 2 LBs I believe) who loved to smoke to ease their soreness and have some fun. They were going to the same concert that night and figured that if they bought a pipe from the tourist shops someone would smoke them out - they were right as I was happy to join them and we had a grand time getting higher than redwood trees.

Part 2 will go over what happened at the concert...

24 Hours In Rosarito Beach Part 2

Saturday night we get absolutely loaded and head down to the club where the performance is suppose to go about 9-1am, a couple of openers, Young Andre and then The Game. This is 2006 so The Game had recently split from G-Unit and was in the middle of his major beef with 50 Cent. The club was packed with people from San Diego and L.A. who were fired up to see him talk a bunch of trash about 50 Cent and G-Unit and people were getting rowdy in the line to get in.

We get in and wind our way through several narrow, packed hallways made of plywood so they could make multiple rooms in the building. They have doors leading to different dance rooms and eventually exit out of the back of the building onto a very large patio where 2 bars face each other on opposite sides of the patio. The patio walks out onto the beach where the stage is set up. We're hanging out, meeting girls and generally ignoring the openers. We all split up and I end up in the VIP area next to the stage, meet Andre Jr. after he performs and everything seems to be great. Except it's time for The Game to perform and he's not even in the building AND the show is already 90 mins behind. The hype man comes out and people start throwing bottles onto the stage. The hype man says The Game won't come out at all if this behavior continues and that makes people more upset and do it more. The hype man leaves the stage and 2 of the openers come back on stage to freestyle rap battle each other to kill time. People start throwing stuff at them and they pretty quickly get off stage. I realize this is getting pretty serious and start making my way back toward the patio, I find my friend Kyle and we stand together watching the stage area trying to decide to stay and see if The Game shows up or to abandon ship. Then the hype man comes back out...

"The Game isn't going to perform tonight if you guys don't stop acting up right now!"

"He's over 2 hours late!" Some one near the stage yells loud enough for the mic to catch.

"And he'll be 3 hours late or even later if you guys keep being *******s!"

Wrong answer dude.

A group of people start to rush the stage, security comes in from the wings with tasers. It's time to book it, every man for himself! Many people start making a rush for the back doors of the club, which are already jammed with people. The pushing causes people to start falling into each other which turns into drunken fist fights. Everyone around Kyle and I is pushing or punching. We push our way into one of the hallways and find ourselves trapped, I lower my shoulder into a big Mexican guy blocking a doorway and myself, the dude and Kyle go tumbling into a room with a couple of people sitting around doing Blow. A fight follows us into the room and rolls into one corner while me and the Mexican dude start throwing punches. He picks me up to body slam me and Kyle kicks him behind the knee making him drop me. I push the guy into the other group of guys who were fighting and like a cartoon they absorb this guy into their fight and all start fighting together.

I make for the door which had somehow closed behind us and open it. The hallway is body to body pushing and fighting and I can see smoke at the far end, someone set one of the bars on fire near the back entry! The panic and stampeding/pushing/fighting is reaching a fever pitch as I close the door and turn around. The fight has tuckered out as all 4 guys are basically laying around the floor, the guy and girl that were doing blow are just sitting there in silence staring at everyone. I tell them and Kyle that there is a fire and but that (and seemingly only) exit is completely blocked. Just then I hear a huge crash as 2 guys come breaking through the wall to my left, exposing the room to another, less packed hallway. Through the hole in the wall I see my pal Horacio who grabs me by the arm and yanks me through the opening

"We need to get the **** out they are burning down the building in protest!" Horacio yells out and Kyle and the coke heads follow us, I don't know what happened to the fighters, I didn't look back to see if they followed.

"What about Nick, Sergio and Hector?"

"I saw Hector get out, Nick and Sergio were in front of me fighting but I lost them."

About 15-20 seconds later we come busting out the front of the club and gather in the street intersection (streets closed off to driving traffic after 8 or 9pm). Hector and Sergio are down the street a little bit with Nick. Shortly after we head count our group we see the fire truck come down and watch them put out the fire in about 5 minutes. Kyle and I had had enough for one night and headed back to the hotel, the others went to Papas & Beer to discuss the nights events.

24 Hours In Rosarito Beach Part 3

I remember that in our room we had 2 queen beds and I shared a bed with Kyle and we had separate sleeping bags (this ensured we wouldn't be pushed off a bed by 2 of the dudes who came in after us because they would have to mess with both of us.) The other 4 guys came in some time a couple of hours later and Nick and Sergio ended up sharing the other bed with their sleeping bags while Hector and Horacio ended up on cots. We got up in the morning and I paid for breakfast which was something like $20 including a 40% tip for all 6 of us. We went to a daytime performance I don't really remember and then I had to head back to the U.S. because I had to meet Moses in the morning with 250 somas and 250 norcos.

Horacio hopped in the car with me and we drove east into Baja to a smaller ranch that was owned by his family. There we went to a barn where the manager of the property had us sign out 1000 somas and 1000 norcos, all in 500 unit bags. We put those into food saver vac-bags and the manager installed my share behind my headlights, the rest were put in a backpack for Horacio to walk back across the border on Sunday. I drove back to Rosarito and dropped him off and said my goodbyes and headed back for the USA.

Worried that I may be red flagged at the San Yisdro/Tijuana crossing for coming back across the same crossing in 24 hours I headed east to the Otay Mesa crossing. Unfortunately that day both crossings had a 3-4+ hour wait to cross, but fortunately I had recently purchased a year of Sirius Satellite Radio for my '00 Malibu and I was close enough to the border for the aftermarket receiver to be active. I listened to T.I. preview his best album "The King" on Shade 45 radio while children tried to sell me trinkets and drinks while walking between deadlocked traffic lanes. They played the segment back to back on repeat I believe and I ended up listening to it twice over before I reached the border. I also found a blunt roach in my ashtray and smoked it to my face in line and then sprayed some "cool water" cologne to cover it.

When I reached the border I was exhausted, stoned, T.I.'ed out and hell bent to make it to SDSU where my friend Nicole would let me use her meal card to eat in the dining commons and then I could find Horacio's roommate to sell me an 1/8th after relaxing in Nicole's dorm before heading back to Santa Barbara. I see the person in front of me pull up to the border agent and I pull up behind them about 20 feet behind. It's about 5pm and a tired and annoyed border agent stops questioning the person in front of me and walks to my window which is already open:

"Son, look to your left and your right and tell me what is different about you right now?"

I look side to side and realize I have pulled up into a "do not enter" zone unlike the other cars in the other lanes that were next in line. My eyes turn into giant disc as I blush and apologize to the about 6'2", angry, "good ol' boy" looking agent.

"Stay RIGHT THERE until I call you forward. Understand?" He commands. "Yes sir" I reply meekly.

The 90 seconds to 2 minutes I sat there in "no man's land" I continued to run scenarios through my head where they send me to extra examination, strip search my car and I'm sent to federal camp for trafficking pills across the border. I decide that the best strategy is to plead ignorance as it's my first road trip to Mexico and I'm not familiar with border procedures. The agent waves me forward and I pull up. Before I can even start explaining he demands my license, registration and passport or Social Security Card (back then CA residents could travel to Mexico for 72 hours and return w/o a passport if they have their birth certificate or social security card.) I hand him my documents and he ask how long I've been in Mexico and why i went. I tell him about the concert and he demands I open the trunk.

I pop the trunk and he instantly comes back to the window "why do you have 3 bags for a 1 night trip?" I had forgotten that the twins asked me to take their bags back so there was more room in Hector's smaller car! I explain the situation to the agent and he is far from impressed by the story. He tells me to pull up to the side to have my bags searched by another agent and a K9, AKA I'm ****ed.

I pull up to the side and wait for the next agent, a few moments later he comes up and checks my ID and then ask me to step out of the car while they do their investigation. He and the dog search the car and the dog barks at the ashtray but they determine that I'm being honest that I had previously smoked some weed in the car and the ashtray still smelled like weed from before (which was technically true). The secondary agent passes my through the inspection and I take off for SDSU.

I get to campus just after dark and head to Nicole's dorm. She feeds me and we watch a movie together in her dorm and then I head to Matt's co-workers place as they had just gotten off work at like Dave and Buster's or a similar type restaurant. His roommate sells us a 1/4 oz and we split that. Matt rolls me a blunt for the drive home and I drive him back to his place and tell him about the night before. I drop him off and head back to Ventura to crash at my parents place and arrive without issue. It takes me about 30 minutes to figure out in the dark how to quietly get into my headlight wells but I get into them and get the pills. The next day I head back to Santa Barbara and give Moses his cut, the other 500 I off-loaded over the next couple of months to classmates, guest and co-workers at a hotel I got a job at, sorority and frat gals/guys and I kept a couple handfuls for myself to self-medicate through back muscle injuries I had from goalkeeping. It was overall several months of rent worth of profit.

By the end of the 2005-2006 school year we divested the shrooms and pills business by selling our client list to a trustworthy competitor and giving them good references. The business made sure I didn't have money worries again for a year and a half (paying for my own classes along the way) while The Guy used his profits to fund a year of foreign exchange education in China which helped shape his adult life.

Thanks For the installment, Nate. Holy **** you must have been ****ting a brick when you saw that secondary inspection coming... 😳

Ps. To all you smokers n contraband carriers, take notes about the headlight wells, the spot underneath your gas cap, in the battery area, brake light housing, or in the door panel as a last resort. Whenever I drive into NJ w bud, I always use one of those spots. Been searched 10x, and when you agree and stay confident, it works like a charm. Cops are like bad OMC poker players, they're trained to sense weakness/lies and look at your neck veins, pupils, etc. for 'tells'.

I was once sec. searched at an int'l airport before the x ray machine days while carrying a 4gram nugget and 10 chill pills heading onto a domestic flight, taped tight underneath my ballzack. The guy throughly searched me and came up my pant leg but my taint tape help tough. I thanked him for doing his job while being searched, was cool and casual, and 2 mins later I was heading to the gate. It's when you hesistate or don't have you're story straight is when they call for the dog or get frisky. You don't HAVE to say where your going/coming from/purpose being there while pulled over, etc. but as a general rule, it's great to be respectful and polite. And have your story and your passengers match that.

And when they say "sir I don't care about a little weed, just don't make me rip your car apart, all I care about is guns". Unless your in a BIG city where they have actual crime,!it's a ruse to get your stoner ass to hand over your bud and get a pair of silver bracelets in return. NEVER believe they're going to help you.

Sorry to derail your tale, Nate, but since you dropped stash spot knowledge I thought I'd chime in with proven tips that have helped me an, in turn, help the readers and young bucks not catch any cases.

Still not entirely sure that was the right decision. Many of my stand up friends said I can always come back and life experience and maturity would make me even better, other friends said push while you have momentum; however my goal wasn't to be a traveling comedian it was to get jobs writing in LA and I had that in hand so I took it. anyway, enjoy!

Sammy's been putting off reading this thread because of all the words. Today Sammy thought he would finally give Small Thumb's thread a chance and read some of it. Sammy scrolled down to the first story, the Kelsey one. After reading all those words Sammy remembers at the end of the story, that he already read that **** once. Damn you Small Thumbs for making Sammy read all those words twice. It was a good read though. Sammy may read the next story some time this year.

Career Update Winter 2017

Sup Savages,

So 2017 started a bit slow after New Years Eve, however, things have really picked up with some major projects that will likely lead how the rest of the year goes:

-Co-producing, shooting and editing a rock-doc that has a big enough budget so we can provide a top end production quality and make a serious run at major film festivals

-I got short listed to write an outline and treatment for a major feature comedy, pulling off being hired from the 4-5 being considered to write or co-write the full script would be a major career boon.

-I got 2 expert consultants on board to help me re-develop a half-hour TV pilot I wrote in Summer 2013 and get it pitched this fall.

-[I was going to humble brag something about stand up comedy and podcasting here but meh it's the least likely to have anything move forward]

So things are in the works this year. I'll keep you all updated on any confirmable major developments and as always I'll be around if any questions arise.

Quick list of notable jobs: story editor on several "Real Housewives" episodes for a couple of the different cities. I was a story assistant early on "The Mindy Project" and helped punch up (re-write) a couple episodes of season 1 of "The Carmichael Show".

Otherwise I've worked on 2 pilots that never made it to air but I'm still bound by non-disclosures on other than to say 1 was starring Adam Carolla, 1 starred BJ Novak. I also wrote an episode of season 5 of Arrested Development that was bought but not made.
