i have court at 1030am for a 'failure to obey traffic signal' for running yellow light.

i have never been to court for something like this before.

im guessing pleading NOT guilty is best idea but are they going to ask me to defend myself or just let me go or tell me its postponed to another date?

suggestions?

I need more information. Getting out traffic violations is ungodly easy if you know what you were doing. Hopefully when the police officer was playing word-voodoo, you didn't make an admission of guilt.

What you need to do is use the freedom of information act and pull all the records of the police officer that pulled you over. They traditionally have at least 4-5 annual "evaluations" that they must keep up for their job. A lot of police-officers decide to miss some of those evaluations or delay them. If they have ( and a lot do), the court usually is obligated to let you out. Plus, if you go through the hassle of this.... the judge is going to realize quickly that your going to be more of a pain than it is worth.

Make sure you address the court in the 3rd person. They love that.

Please tell me in what state its illegal to "run a yellow light"?

You might want to understand what your ticket is for before you walk into court. Theres no such thing as "failure to obey a traffic signal" in relation to a yellow light.

Im betting the light was as red as the guy's face when you didnt call his all in.

Ask the judge if there's anything you can do to make this go away while wiping your forehead with a c note. He'll laugh and drop the charges.

if they charge you for say $200, offer them $600 instead, if they decline, run away.

You shoulda got a lawyer . . . they are fairly cheap for these sorts of things and you end up paying the lawyer about what the fine would have been, but with no points/moving violations on your record. They usually plead to a non-moving violation and win.

Get an extension and get a lawyer.
