during sessions -- that's why you paid $1000!! Who are you trying to kid??

Now you're pissed cause you thought you were gonna hire a "coach" to help you SCAM people by sharing your screen with him and guess what you got SCAMMED instead.

Who else thinks OP isn't being completely honest here?

Is there anything that pliers and a blow torch can't solve?

In all seriousness though, this is a really awful situation OP. One thing is for sure...you have an awesome friend based on that IM chat: "It's only money" what a guy.

the most impressive part of the scam is the fact that he convinced you to play him HU without you suspecting it.

this guy sounds pretty smart, he'll probably be hard to actually track down

you could stack this guy if you can get HU w/ him and give him false info. Tell him to play you for his roll HU. He'll bite!!!

If the scammer spent all that time and energy playing poker and improving he might not need to scam people to make money.

Doubtful. How much better can you do than getting people to pay you $1k plus let you see their cards in HU matches.

I am shocked by how many people aren't saying police/lawsuit. Even if you get a deal to get your money back, how many other people has/will this guy steal from? IMO this thief needs prison time.

wow,this is so bizarre,
if true in that you get you cash back, they can still do it to other people, this is so wrong in so many ways

this promisory note thingy sounds so dumb. "2 witnesses"? you mean him, himself and him? and even then, what if he goes broke and declares bankrupcy? and i don't agree with op logic, if you give him more time to come up with the money, it means he has more time to scam others not the other way round.

if i were op i'd want all the money transferred asap and i'd set a reasonable deadline for that to happen. if he were not to meet the deadline, i'd start outing his info.

also if op were to accept an IOU and not contact police (depending on which country you're in and what the laws are like in Norway), then in the future when he doesn't deliver the dough and op cries scam, he would have no credibility b/c he would have already accepted it as a debt and implicitly acknowledged that he wasn't scammed.

Wow this hadnt even crossed my mind, is ghosting counted as cheating then? Surely its the same as having someone else in the room helping you?

I only gave a half hearted attempt to read all of this thru, so take whatever piece you want and discard the rest or file it away for future use.

-there is at least one very high profile Norwegian based/related scammer that frequents 2+2.

-the MO of many scammers often is to impersonate a high profile person/person of some perceived authority, real or not.

-the way to avoid being scammed is not do transfers with people you don't actually know, regardless of the story they sell you.

-if there's one word and one word only that would set off the bright flashing red lights warning me about a potential scam related to a transfer it's "norway".

question to OP:

how did you get his address and contact info and how are you so sure that it is real?

I'm not sure if this has been said but at some point the scammer should be outed.. Like after the note is signed. If you just make him pay you back and this whole thing dies he is free to scam many others. At least if his name is out there people will be aware of this.

This made sense to me, because then he would improve my actual game instead of just making me play better when he was sweating me. After 1 session with playing and him spending a few minutes after commenting my mistakes, he wanted to see improvements of those particular things the next session.

During the recordings he would give quick comments if I were insecure about spots but most of the time it was me playing and him "recording".

The reason I kept playing vs pokerbotv7 even tho he was crushing me was that he would make stupid plays from time to time. This one in particular: http://www.pokerhand.org/?4631427 Its hard to imagine that the guy sees your cards when he pulls off a stunt like this. Oh and I run good.

To the guys that says the IOU is stupid and that its much better to force him to pay right away: Well first of all this guy does not have nearly as much money as he owes me alone. And my main concern is that he pays back EVERYONE he has scammed. So its in my (and the other scammed) best interest to give this guy the best opportunity to pay as possible. With an IOU I (an the other scammed) can also force him to pay if hes late on a downpayment. Because the IOU is protected by law, it will be a slamdunk in the Norwegain court. Especially if we get him to sign another document where he confirms that the reason he owes the money is because he stole it.

The scammer looked smart during the scam. I figure its probably because he has build up he confidence with the other successful scams. But he was not so smart preparing for the scam. He used old accounts on forums and pokersites containing some real information about himself. I have figured out who he is by using the help from DonkR's admins and propaganda vip support.

It seems like these "people" are influencing you not to out the scammer. Which is exactly what he wants.

This guy is really good at what he does.
I have received several PM's from several people claiming that they have been scammed by this guy. And like you I suspected that It was the scammer fishing for information to see if I actually had the information I claimed to have. And I was right, he was behind many of those PM's. So I have only replied to the guys that I know for a fact are the real deal. Any idea on how I could validate the users I don't know, but seem like the real deal?. I will advise the guys that have PM'd me (and haven't gotten an answer) to contact me on DonkR if possible. I don't know many nicks here.
